This was why my wife’s practice handed back her contract when the ICB removed local funding . The funding per patient meant it was insufficient to cover the costs of running the service once you’d taken into account another years wage rises without funding

I work as a full time GP caring for 1500 patients It's very busy as we're in a deprived area with a large elderly skew Global sum payment last month didn't cover the bills & wages, so I couldn't take a salary Before anyone signs up to become a GP, think again, it's unsustainable

@medicaccountant Andy. To lay people (me) “handing back a GP contract” means nothing. Is there a simple explanation?

@SolWpolski Noted … the problem with explaining it is that you need to then explain the whole GP contract model which is when lay people say “but that’s bad !”
