. My wife’s former practice was a GP partnership. It provided a good service. They gave up their contract solely because of funding cuts. The new salaried service is unlikely to provide the continuity patients desire. (1)
It wasn’t the model that was the problem. In fact it drove good quality, allowed a mixture of partners & salarieds, looked after staff , developed new ways of working . But it was the funding & bureaucracy which made it impossible (2)
It was cost effective as people were cared for in the community. It was safe as safeguarding issues were dealt with by continuity of staff & knowledge. Talk down partnerships if you want but you’ll end up being the fool as they deliver. They should be supported not killed off (3)
Fix funding as Blair did back in the 2000’s … don’t try and destroy the system. And be clear with your policies as cheap talk will cause short term instability. The current government have done enough damage already. It doesn’t need you to pour fuel on the fire (4)

I would see it as an issue. Been advising GP practices for 28 years but also seen it first hand with wife’s practice. From before current contract to where it is now. Happy to chat but this policy is likely to take us backwards. Change is needed though but not just NHS

propose to support existing overwhelmed

partnerships NOW through to the “promised land?” 100’s of practising close to collapse. Might as well jack it in as there is apparently no future.
