I have a big announcement. I'm taking my Substack on monopolies paid. I'll explain more tomorrow, but the gist is that the newsletter has been so much more successful at addressing monopolies than I ever could have dreamed.
If the Post Office had used 96% of its cash flow to buy back stock instead of deliver mail to rural areas it would have been bailed out by the Fed in March.
I have views on what Democrats are doing wrong politically, but the basic issue is that we are out of touch. I've never seen such wildly pro-labor sentiment in America in in my lifetime, but the Democratic governing class has no connection to the working class.
In the past I voted Democrat, because they were (mostly) the kindness party.
But they have become the party of division & hate, so I can no longer support them and will vote Republican.
Now, watch their dirty tricks campaign against me unfold … 🍿
Every shot of
@aoc
is her not standing and applauding when everyone else is standing and applauding at dumb manipulative rhetoric.
For once I feel represented.
This announcement of layoffs by United Airlines came literally a few hours after they got $25B in grants from the government so they wouldn't have to lay anyone off.
Congress is full of a bunch of fucking morons.
I love that Terry McAuliffe couldn’t attack Youngkin’s Carlyle group record because McAuliffe was an investor in a Carlyle fund.
Ladies and gentlemen, the Democrats!
I've never seen a more blatant example of concentrated money rigging an election than Iowa Dems releasing a random percentage of the vote after self-dealing grifters tied to Buttigieg fucked up an election, followed by the NYT, WaPost, CNN, and MSNBC announcing 'partial results.'
Chinese billionaire Jack Ma is missing after criticizing the Chinese government. Wow. This would be like the U.S. government kidnapping Jeff Bezos or Mark Zuckerberg to teach them a lesson.
Just spoke with ER doc who say he's seeing cases he's 99% sure are
#coronavirus
. Negative for flu, recent travel, work in airports. Not allowed to test. Patients return to work because they can't take time off w/out a firm diagnosis. Other ER docs seeing the same thing.
I’ll call for censorship of Joe Rogan when he lies us into a few wars and prints a few trillion dollars for his buddies under the guise of science. Until then fuck off.
Honestly this debate is bad and we can thank Obama for that. Obama's DNC head
@TomPerez
sold tickets to lobbyists and the wealthy so the audience is cheering *for* billionaires.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders is all about "the radical left," the "woke mob," "critical race theory," "latinx," etc.
Joe Biden is like "Ticketmaster sucks."
Biden's superpower is that he doesn't use Twitter.
Chairman of Ticketmaster Greg Maffei is on CNBC blaming the site outage on Taylor Swift. He says she didn’t go on the road for four years so the demand was more than they can handle.
Right-wing conspiracy theories about a club of elite liberals who control discourse would be easier to dismiss as paranoia if they weren't, you know, true.
If you want to know Biden's problem, consider that Pete Buttigieg is an unmitigated catastrophe at the Department of Transportation. Yet there's no criticism at all of his tenure on the Hill or within partisan media. The Dem political machine has no feedback loop to reality.
This is a bet by Pelosi that
@aoc
is wrong and that the Trump administration will do the right thing on the border with the money Congress just appropriated. Not a bet I'd make but ok.
Speaker Pelosi says
@AOC
,
@IlhanMN
,
@AyannaPressley
and
@RashidaTlaib
“have their public whatever and their Twitter world. But they didn’t have any following. They’re four people and that’s how many votes they got.”
Another astonishing clip from the Cato Institute event today, this one from the influential Adam Posen, head of the Peterson Institute. He says a focus on domestic manufacturing is simply a “fetish for keeping white males with low education in the powerful positions they are in.”
I hear from right-wing small business owners that employees are just not showing up, and I also hear from left-wing professors that students are just not showing up. This dynamic got much worse during Covid. Something is very off.
People are not internalizing what is happening. A $6 trillion credit allocation to Wall Street isn't a corporate handout, it's a coup. These numbers are a thorough restructuring of America.
Donald Trump is doing exactly what Hitler did to seize power, which is to file lawsuits and comply with judicial decisions while musing about running for office four years later after his opponent peacefully took office. The parallels are eery.
There are a lot of replies to this tweet that take the form of ‘good for her she’s educated and earned it.’ Those come from Democrats who should be kicked out of the party and replaced with the working class voters they hate.
I see a lot of criticism of Trump for calling
#coronavirus
the Chinese virus. Please understand that the Chinese government is engaged in a global propaganda campaign to tell everyone that the virus was created and spread by the U.S. military. We have to do something.
It's a bit of a weird thing that documents came out showing Lee Harvey Oswald was probably a CIA asset and there's very little coverage. Like, there's a reasonable chance the CIA was directly or indirectly involved in killing JFK and, well, shrug.
I'm going to show you just who
@Ocasio2018
, Justice Democrats, and DSA beat tonight. it isn't
@JoeCrowleyNY
. It's the most powerful people in America. Here are Crowley donors Sheryl Sandberg, Sean Parker, Google NET Pac, and Facebook's PAC.
I still can't get over how Pope said that food monopolists shouldn’t starve people and an ag economist responded by saying the Pope doesn’t understand economics.
It's so much easier for an airline exec to apply for $32 billion in bailout money than for a random poor person to apply for food stamps. (ht

These are the items included in the stimulus bill:
$75 mill for public television/radio
$25 mil for the Kennedy Center
$75 mil for the Natl Endowment for the Arts
$75 mill for the Natl Endowment for the Humanities
How many more people could have been helped with this money?
BREAKING🚨:
SBF used a loophole in the Citizens United rule to donate $37M of "dark money" to Republicans
"I donated about the same amount of money to both parties this year ... I just didn't disclose the Republican ones bc the media would freak the f*** out"
Scoop: Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has privately recommended several potential hires to Pete Buttigieg’s campaign, a rare example of direct political involvement from one most powerful tech executives,

reports.
My memory of Dianne Feinstein will always be when she was on the floor of the Senate during the financial crisis, and the Brown-Vitter amendment to break up the big banks came up. "This is America, isn't it?" she said, and gave a thumbs down.
Chuck Schumer thinks Biden can cancel student debt with an executive order and wants him to do so. Schumer isn’t Bernie Sanders. The policy is on the table.
It’s also a great 2022 election strategy.
Chuck Schumer to
@AnandWrites
:
argues for an FDR-like first 100 days.
Says they will focus on:
climate
$15 minimum wage
infrastructure bill that will also employee ppl w/ prison records
student debt cancellation via executive order
immigration
Everyone in the Midwest just loves student debt and shitty health care monopolies. Last time I was in Des Moines people would not stop praising the price of pharmaceuticals.
The way to hit Disney is to break it up. Disney’s power is a result of mergers, one of which was clearly illegal and several of which shouldn’t have been allowed.
Trillions of dollars are being used to bolster the Stock Market. America must take steps to support hardworking families nationwide as well.

One thing I've noticed in all of these rants by Silicon Valley types is that not a single one has demanded more regulation of the banking system. Not a single one has repudiated the deregulation pushed for decades by the GOP. They just demand a bailout.
A couple SVB thoughts. 1. 250k is too low. It's insane that a small company with say 2.5m in payables and payroll at the end of the month should be "prudent" and split their cash across 10 banks in case of a run. The fees and admin would be crazy. But great for banks
I can't think of a better recipe for inducing racial tension than having D.C. elites financed by Wall Street pushing offshoring and then saying that anyone who opposes having their community and livelihood destroyed is racist.
Another astonishing clip from the Cato Institute event today, this one from the influential Adam Posen, head of the Peterson Institute. He says a focus on domestic manufacturing is simply a “fetish for keeping white males with low education in the powerful positions they are in.”
Not to get all Will Stancil, but it is weird how little anyone on Twitter wants to give credit to Biden for doing good stuff. Like he cuts overdraft fees and the response is 'More half measures! Yay. I wonder how watered down this will get if it even happens.' It did happen!
Unless JANET YELLEN receives a written waiver, she will be barred by her ethics agreement from participating in any matter involving CITADEL, which makes millions in fees from ROBINHOOD, until Oct. 2021 (or 1 year after her last paid speech to Citadel).
The Enron guys put a lot of effort into legitimizing their crimes. They had Arthur Anderson set up special purpose vehicles and had tons of legal cover.
Sam Bankman-Fried used Quickbooks and signed promissory notes to himself.
Gen Z are just lazy.
1. Kavanaugh's clearly on display anger and pain was quite confusing to millions of Americans. Many saw authenticity in his voice and thus in some way believed he is telling the truth. It is time for us to wake up to what aristocracy is. Aristocracy is a moral system.
Joe Rogan is an awesome interviewer and he plays with lots of ideas, including weird and bad ones sometimes. That’s called art. It’s why he’s super popular and relatable. Those who insist no one ever say anything wrong are weird.
First Putin installed
@TomPerez
as DNC Chair. Then he hired ACRONYM to build an app for the Iowa caucuses ominously named Shadow. Then he got Bloomberg to spend $400 million on ads. Then he made sure Democrats had no agenda...
The impeding attack raises questions about the urgency House GOP leadership will feel to move an Israel aid bill. They tried an Israel bill with domestic spending offsets. Then an Israel bill without offsets on suspension. Can they get an Israel aid bill through rules and on the…
BREAKING: U.S. hospitals are warning that they are so strapped for cash that without some financial relief, they will be unable to meet their payrolls in a matter of weeks and some could be forced to close just as coronavirus cases are surging.
A CNN commentator just noted that if Bernie wins with 35% of the vote, that still means 65% picked someone else. Truly brilliant inspired thinking from the most trusted name in news.
The Supreme Court should not be this important and it is only this important because Congress doesn’t legislate. Lifetime appointed judges generally have too much power and Congress should take back institutional power from them.
Hey Republicans this whole process is passive aggressive and annoying. Just say you are jamming through a Supreme Court nominee to promote corporate power and end abortion. Stop acting like this is about making the norm fairy happier.
The single worst political mistake in Mitch McConnell’s tenure as leader was blocking the $2000 checks that Trump wanted. McConnell lost not only the policy battle, but the Senate.
Thanks to Georgia voters, the United States Senate just passed the most generous economic relief package for working and middle class families in American history.
So the theory that Trump won these kinds of districts due to racism and then there's a 20 point swing well... what happened? There was 17 months of sensitivity training or something?
Church attendance is down, crime is up, labor force participation is down, life spans are down, drug overdoses are up. I don't know what's going on but it's not good.
UPDATE: After I demanded answers from
@WellsFargo
about the exorbitant fees they've been charging college students, the bank has finally agreed to stop charging some fees on student debit cards.
A Senator makes $174,000/year.
So a first year corporate lawyer makes about a third more than our top public servants.
We are asking for corruption by underpaying our public servants this badly.
Weirdest thing about Barack Obama speaking is that he talks as if he just observed things from the White House for eight years instead of governing a rapidly deteriorating society and Democratic Party.
I'm enjoying
@jimmy_dore
putting House progressives on the spot on how they aren't demanding anything in return for giving Pelosi their vote for Speaker. He's pointing out they have not organized a coherent political agenda.
