A super hot day. I wanted to shoot in simple fluid shots to enjoy the dance of the fight. Key was to get the rhythm right with camera operator & stunts. Big shout to the stunt choreos & @HazardCT & operator @onepiecenetflix

Ep2 tank scene was technically tough to shoot. We wanted to do it all in camera. Glass was 2" thick to hold the water being piped in. Mini explosives used to smash the glass (without @InakiGodoy inside!) Big shout out to sfx #mickeykirsten @onepiecenetflix @OP_Netflix_Fan

Music to my ears! One of our key casting criteria was to find actors who were both great performers, AND terrific athletes. That way we could bring more creativity in how we designed the choreography, and, critically, how we shot the action sequences. @OP_Netflix_Fan

I'm happy to say however that one of my favorite things was the battles, as the choreography is legitimately INSANE. The show is really well directed, but in fights in particular the use of camerawork makes them an absolute joy to watch and cheer to (10/15)

Timing was everything. George Amos, fab cam op, was dedicated 100% to the stunt team, to learn the dance of the fights & enable us to do long, fluid camera moves. We could only do that cos our cast were strong & physical so we didn't have to swap into stunt doubles & make cuts

@InakiGodoy & I - 1st day on set. We spent weeks rehearsing, mucking about, playing silly games, laughing. You can’t manufacture warmth & heart, you have to cast for it. In Covid times you rely on experience & instinct, & our cast delivered joy & magic in spades @onepiecenetflix
