listen... the story itself is about the first samurai from the west—who was black. the director is black. yasuke’s jpn voice actor is afro-japanese. yasuke’s dub actor is black. i am so inexplicably excited for this knowing there’s representation both onscreen and behind it
this is one of the most important scenes in television, not only in anime. a candid conversation about sexuality and the normalization of having nonheteronormative feelings is so important, exactly what lgbt+ viewers need.
given is a godsend.
literally was abused by his dad during his most formative years leaving him to grow up with no depiction of what love should be then found his best friend/boyfriend dead years later and people claim he “doesn’t deserve” the partner he ends up with despite him doing his best
tw // violence , death, anti-asian racism
given that anitwt is entirely dependent on and regularly consumes content by asian people infused with asian culture, we have an obligation to spread awareness about the rise of anti-asian hate crimes as of late. [thread]
the thought of cosplaying has scared me for a while and posting these gives me a lot of anxiety, but i‘ve realized that i will die before i let a racist dudebro on a power trip tell me what i can and can’t do with my own body and money. so without further ado: la la la la <3
will always be partial to the illustrations because you can truly tell just how much mafuyu loves both of them when these are side by side. being with yuki felt like childlike joy and innocence and being with uenoyama is the healing, calm after the storm feeling. i love them <3
actually i have one more thing to say: i find it extremely frustrating that the grammys nominated only dynamite, bts’s sole record in just english, without acknowledging any of their other music from the past year that was just as groundbreaking. this still reeks of xenophobia
it’s SO important for those who watch banana fish to realize that the gun is a metaphor for consent because that makes the scene so much more impactful than an exchange between strangers. ash never gets a say and it was so valuable for someone to finally consider what /he/ wanted

this is just. one of my favorite animated moments from the series. the action of them hiding away in a classroom in itself is intimate and clandestine but it’s yuuki’s look that makes it so gripping because it seems so defiant and unapologetic...... it’s poetic cinema
the way uenoyama’s eyes widen when he realizes that’s perfectly natural and how the conversation still stays somewhat lighthearted which relieves so much of the pressure & stress....... literally such a beautiful scene
i actually think uenoyama is a fantastic fucking boyfriend who has handled situations that most 17 year olds would have no clue how to navigate with such grace and selflessness that it’s shocking. not to mention being caring as hell and a dope ass musician. he truly rocks
GIVEN IS OFFICIALLY CANCELLED
ive always defended it, but in this situation i really cant. i thought it was a good story and now it turns out that there’s a scandal surrounding it consisting of stealing the hearts of innocent people like me and making us cry :/ unforgivable.
PLEASE watch given when it airs in july to see this sunshine fall in love with music and build new relationships after losing someone who meant everything to him :( i promise he is so lovable and his story is more than worth watching
justin bieber about his wife: yeah you got that yummy yum that yummy
mafuyu singing about the love of his life: just like snow that hasn't completely melted in the shade, i continue on with these feelings inside me. please tell me how I'm supposed to close the door on this love

do you ever think about how mafuyu put so much thought into how he would confess and where he would do it that he, ahead of time, resolved to share his feelings in a place that means so much to him..... and uenoyama has no idea how much that matters
thinking about how mafuyu is randomly exceptionally good at basketball…. it doesn’t add anything to the story really it’s just a silly little thing he can do
