...And we're live. @liziwake 's superb 'Sketching a year in Lakeland' is now shipping. Her illustrative shapshots of Lakeland life not only celebrate the natural beauty of hill country, but also the quiet back lanes, the bustling cafes and our communities

Ambleside is gridlocked this evening. I heard a bloke offering a lorry driver a cuppa as he said they could be stuck for four hours! It was obvious from the clear tarmac patches under the cars that they’d been stuck for a long time already. Please stay safe at home ❄️

I can’t hear the birdsong over the traffic noise. I can’t bear this. Now I know what life could & should sound like it’s so so desperately sad that we’ve got to go back to this. And eventually I will have to get in my car & be part of it 😢

This is learned behaviour. It needs to be unlearned. Football grounds, festivals, nightclubs etc can do this by stating that no one leaves the ground/site/building until all waste is in bins provided. Treating fans/revellers as children by clearing up after them needs to stop.
