The journey from the left (med student) to the right (attending) is a long one that you cannot fully understand unless you have taken that climb. The days are long, but the years are short. It may seem insurmountable, but we continue to climb. Proud of all those on that journey.
Yesterday, I asked social media for some tips on an upcoming family trip to Europe. In return, I received a very disappointing comment and had to respond. Please stop treating our healthcare professionals like this. 🎤⏬

If I looked back 10 years ago when I started my practice, I never would have guessed I would be where I am today. Life changes so much, yet so much stays the same. Keep your passion alive, keep grinding, stay focused, because dreams really do come true.

Thank you to everybody who watches me, listens to me, and supports me. I hope to continue to inspire the next generation of healthcare workers, so we can change the narrative and become a powerful force of the future. Let’s do this. ❤️
14 years ago today, we went on our first date at a little sports bar in Raleigh, NC. I had no idea I’d be here today…with you, laughing every day like we did that night. Life is crazy like that. ❤️
Time for my annual mammogram 🩷Ladies - make sure you talk to your doctor about your screening mammograms. About 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer during her life. About 9% of all breast cancer cases in the United States are found in women younger than 45 years of age.
It may be 🏈 Super Bowl Sunday 🏈 to most but it’s another day at the office over here. 😷 We provide the best care around the clock, day or night, Super Bowl Sunday or any other day of the week. ❤️

April 8th is World Neurosurgeons Day, celebrating the birthday of Dr. Harvey Cushing, born in 1869. Considered the father of modern neurosurgery, he was a famous American neurosurgeon who made legendary contributions to medicine.
I am thankful for many things, but I am most thankful to be a part of the journey in so many people’s lives. It’s an honor to serve even the smallest role in the biggest journeys. ❤️

Legendary. That’s my relationship with Erica. I’m sad that the 10 years of working with her in the operating room have come to an end, but happy for the countless operations in which she has been by my side. We were unstoppable.
Love you, Erica. 🫶
Happy International Women’s Day to all those fearless, trailblazing women before me that allow us to occupy spaces that weren’t possible a few decades ago. We continue to progress and grow together. And to my mom, I love you. ❤️

Every time I teach a lab, I walk away with more knowledge that when I started. Surgeons sharing knowledge and experience with each other is one of the greatest learning opportunities.
