I wouldn't have a love for hockey without my dad. I spent a good portion of the 2000's going to nearly every Preds game with him. We lost him this morning. It took a broken neck, cancer, and dementia to knock him out. He was a strong SOB and I'm gonna really, REALLY miss him.

Normally, the #Preds backup goaltender sits right behind the players at the bench. Rinne, since being pulled, has been standing at the back of the tunnel, out of distance. I honestly feel very bad for him and I know he's probably hurting big time right now.

Austin Watson is a consummate hockey player. He's a perfect mix of a player drafted into Barry Trotz's system that had to adapt to be a defense-first player and, in Laviolette's system, was able to reincorporate his scoring touch. Can't ask for a better all-around player.

Outside of Pekka Rinne's first career goal, lol which is amazing, that was a manly win. And a great first win for John Hynes. I also thought it showed a lot about Hynes that he went straight to the locker room as the horn blew. Either way, this was what the #Preds needed.

Is the officiating horrendous? Absolutely it is. But the fact that the #Preds have absolutely melted down in the final 30 minutes of the game can't be understated. What a huge blown opportunity for Nashville. Brutal and this could cost them dearly.

I've never understood how one player can get hit with a penalty and another can get called with embellishment. If the first player committed a penalty, then how could the other have embellished it? Never makes sense. No matter which side it's called on.

Stopped by the hospital to see dad after the game. He hadn't had the greatest of days, but I wanted to stop and tell him about the game. As soon as I walked in, he woke up and asked me who won. Had the fortune of showing him the final 20 minutes. He was excited, to say the least

UPDATE: We're ok. The tornado swept through my backyard (not joking). One of the garages in our complex was utterly demolished and a wall slammed in to another building and tore off part of that roof. Cars are ok. Everyone in the complex is ok. One flipped FedEx truck, though.

Here's what you should remember: #Preds didn't trade away Fabbro or Tolvanen. Didn't mortgage the future. Gained SOLID depth on the wing for a first rounder that will likely be closer to a second in terms of picking. I like it.
