Democracies don’t become autocracies overnight. It doesn’t take a coup or insurrection necessarily. It’s a process where gradually local governments & representative institutions are usurped. That’s where we are in DeSantis’ Florida. It’s a gradual weakening of checks & balances.

The FIFA video game has been IMO the single biggest driver of new interest in soccer in the US since 2005 (not the USSF or Prem on NBC or Champions League or MLS or anything else). How today's news impacts that, I have no idea. Would love to hear some feedback.

When CNN leads the news, hour after hour with Grant’s passing, and ESPN dedicates SportsCenter segments to discussing his work & reporting from Qatar, Fox really failed. Even worse than usual. He worked with them for 7 years ! This should be the breaking point for fans w/ them.

Watching US sports is really tough once you are accustomed to soccer. I've tried watching the NBA & College Football lately but the number of commercials & frequency of breaks kill me. I am accustomed to 45 minutes uninterrupted, an intermission, then another 45. Like a play.

MLS pulling out of the #USopenCup deprives lower division teams of a potential huge home gate. This is a way of financially starving independent lower division clubs. Putting them out of business. Or forcing them to submit by joining MLS NP. It’s bad for soccer. Period.

Consider history. UGA led the move to strip Florida of its first SEC title in 1984. Bama along with Auburn and Ole Miss defended UF. The Gators had the title stripped by a 6-4 vote. Any long-term Gator should always root for Bama, Auburn or Ole Miss vs Georgia. Period.

I have commitments which require me to watch #MLS for the duration of 2018. However, if #CrewSC are relocated, I will not watch MLS in 2019, will not attend a match and will make a conscious effort to avoid MLS sponsors. It's unfortunate that it may come to this. #SavetheCrew

#MLS on ESPN #ATLvDC outdrew all Premier League matches on NBCSN this past weekend. Seems the flow of ads during College Basketball Championship Week worked for MLS as did the lead in from the SEC Championship between Kentucky and Tennessee.

It's apparent when you observe MLS players having success in qualifying for countries other than the US, most recently Svensson w/ Sweden the league's level of play isn't the issue - it's the comfort zone & protection it provides American players who are inflicted w/ complacency.

MLS is no different than a business that takes government subsidies then once those run out, turns around & starts calling for less gov’t regulation. US soccer effectively subsidized MLS through the SUM deal. When the deal was cancelled MLS went about screwing US soccer.

Our dog Sebastian just months short of his 14th birthday (DEC 6) passed away after a steep decline the last 36 hours. Sadly it happens at his age. A shock but we couldn’t allow someone who gave us so much love for so long to linger and suffer. This pic is from 3 weeks ago.

COVID cases in Florida are coming down as are hospitalizations. Deaths continue to be high (about 350 a day per my calculations over last 3 weeks) but deaths lag weeks behind cases. I'm cautiously optimistic that we may be turning the corner finally. Maybe. Critical week ahead.

I think the USSF should tell MLS no more foreign guest teams in their league. Let the Canadian teams play in a Canadian league. Concacaf forced USL out of Ottawa. If MLS is going to disrespect the domestic game FORCE THEM to once again be a domestic league.

Quite frankly, US soccer might want to settle with the NASL in the next couple days if they’re not going to do the right thing regarding the Open Cup, because anything short of putting sanctions on MLS means the PLS is effectively null & void.

Make no mistake about it. This is the US version of the Super League drama. The timeline & fan actions are kind of similar. And while MLS may be given a face-saving compromise in the end, the scheme unraveled for them as quickly as it did for those snobbish European giants.

#USSF has tacitly rejected the largest single monetary offer to invest in the sport of soccer in the United States. Maintaining political control and limiting competition (that depresses player wages) must be seen as an institutional policy given this development. Much to ponder.

I have not renewed MLS Season Pass. While it is going to really hurt me the first few weeks, once USL and NWSL kick off, I will hardly notice because they’ll still be plenty of other domestic soccer to watch. Throw in NISA & NPSL after that and I’m super busy w/o season pass.

My father who passed on Friday at 79 had last been admitted to the hospital in 2005. That’s how healthy he had been before the cancer diagnosis in March. He worked 14 years at Johnson Controls, and 18 years at NASA as well as at FAU among other places.

Raul Jimenez is the most complete Mexican striker to play in the Prem IMO. Better than Chicharito, Vela, Borgetti, Gio (if you consider him a striker), etc. Raul does a ton well, not just scoring goals.

Instead of hating on @ATLUTD , fans of other #MLS clubs should urge each respective team's FO's and fans to up their game the way Atlanta has. It's a whole new world now- adjust or be irrelevant. MLS years will eventually be marked "BA" (Before Atlanta) and "PA" (Post Atlanta).
