Got sexually assaulted last night at work, barely slept - going from wanting to smash everything to bits to just weeping. Never felt this angry before.
Had some weightlifting plates dropped off at the house today - bloke on the van was like “oh they’re really heavy!” I was like yeah I know I ordered them. He was like “you must live with a weightlifter?”
“The weightlifter is me hun…”
awkward silence…
Totally amazed by all the tweets and messages I’ve received since my last tweet - too many to reply to atm. Thank you for all your well wishes - I’ve had a proper sleep, I feel a damn sight better for it, feel a calmer now my brain isn’t running at 100000mph.
This is Wes - he works at Tameside Hospital for the company who clean our ambulances after we’ve taken a patient to hospital. He goes above and beyond to make sure above and beyond that both the vehicles and the ambulance staff are ready to go with drinks and snacks.
ED STAFF: it really irks ambulance staff when you state the obvious that’s somethings changed from the standby you received - if we gave you play by play updates your triage nurse wouldn’t be off the phone, k thanks I’m off to eat a solero.
FINALLY - some work trousers that accommodate my weightlifters thighs without fear of showing everyone what I ate for dinner.
@511Tactical
women’s EMS trousers 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Probably unpopular opinion but I think there should be a fitness test for all frontline roles - also think the service should be a bit more like the Fire and provide facilities to ensure the staff can keep themselves healthy.
Last shift with Dan today - 2nd year at
@EHUParamedics
. He’s been a absolute pleasure to mentor the last year - asked him what’s the one thing he’s taken away from this year of placement.
“Treat the patient not the numbers.”
I’m a very proud mentor.
@NWAmbulance
NQP’s: on occasion, you’re going to come to a job, where the patient is sick - and you don’t know why they are sick, but they are. There is no shame whatsoever in saying “I’m not sure” or “I don’t know.”
Got two letters today saying that two cardiac arrests within a week of each other I attended have been discharged - great way to start my shift!
@NWAmb_Dan
Had a great day today with Team 4
@NWAmb_HART
in sunny Manchester, confined space, working at height, wearing BA and doing a fitness test - had a go of it all. Thank you so much for having me! ☺️
OBLIGATORY RRV picture - feat. McDonald’s finest latte. Have a good day, planning on getting some CPD done in between jibbing round south Manchester with my nee-naws on. 👍🏼
Woke up this morning, came on Twitter to see a large number of people feeling like they’re struggling, so I’m gonna see if I can put a smile (even just a brief one) back on your faces. LORD OF THE RINGS IN THE AMBULANCE SERVICE - A THREAD:
Going from holding a patients hand whilst they pass peacefully in their home to being flagged down by someone wanting you to give them a “straightener” as they’ve taken enough drugs - no other job like it.
Given PR diazepam for the first time today - managed a whole 4 years and not done it, I’ll be honest I’d quite happily wait another 4 years to use that route again. 🤢
Used a term a student wasn’t familiar with yesterday - they didn’t believe it was a real word because previous mentors have made stuff up to make them look silly, why are people like this to students?
