Over the last few days, you may have heard a lot of misinformation about my bill to help women make their own healthcare decisions in consultation with their doctors.
Here are the facts, straight from me.
#IStandWithWomen
It's official -- I am proudly endorsing
@EWarren
for President. Virginia has shown the country that women can lead a movement, win tough elections, and deliver results. Let's do it again! Join
@TeamWarren

this weekend:
In 1979, my parents & I fled Vietnam as boat refugees. My dad was a dentist in the South Vietnamese Army & went to reeducation prison. Upon his release, my parents took me, not yet seven months old, onto the open sea. They risked our lives for hope, opportunity & freedom. (1)
Exclusive: The Trump administration has decided that Vietnamese migrants who arrived before the establishment of diplomatic ties between the U.S. and Vietnam are subject to standard immigration law—meaning they are all eligible for deportation.
I am honored to serve as the Caucus Chair for
@VAHouseDems
! My parents and I came to this country as boat refugees in search of hope, opportunity, and freedom. I look forward to working with our Democratic majority to continue advancing these values for everyone in Virginia.

@pattonoswalt
is all in for Delegate
@KathyKLTran
, who is up for re-election in Northern VA, where Patton grew up.
Don't forget to vote early for Delegate Tran (now through 10/30) or on Nov 2nd!
#VoteVirginia
I continue to
#StandWithShelly
. There is a protocol for recounts that we need to adhere to. Shelly was declared the winner at the end of the recount by Republicans and Democrats. As
@shelly_simonds
says, "This is about the integrity of elections in Virginia."
UPDATE: The Board of Elections has postponed tomorrow's drawing in light of our challenge of a court decision that allowed David Yancey to break recount rules. RT to show your support for Delegate-elect
@shelly_simonds
.
#StandWithShelly
#GameOnVa
#VAgov
I stand with
@shelly_simonds
as the rightful winner of the
#VA
House of Delegates 94th district. All Republican and Democratic observers affirmed the accuracy of the results at the end of the recount. You can't change your mind the next day just because your guy lost.
I joined constituents & neighbors at the
@MomsDemand
Northern Virginia
#WearOrange
rally this evening.
The fight to end gun violence is too important for anyone to sit on the sidelines.
We will always show up to make sure our kids and communities are safe!
I spoke on the House floor today about the need for solidarity with the AAPI community as we deal with the devastation of the mass shooting in Monterey Park and the generational impact of harmful stereotypes.
See my full speech at:
Stealthily issuing this dangerous rollback of LGBTQ rights, without public input, on a Friday evening is cowardly. Youngkin knows that Virginia won’t stand for this hostility targeted at LGBTQ youth, who deserve to feel safe and welcomed for who they are.
Polls are closed. Heartfelt thanks to all our volunteers, the best campaign team ever and
@noahjkim
for guiding us to the finish line! You all are amazing!
It’s pretty incredible to be able to say the
#VA
General Assembly passed
#MedicaidExpansion
! Thanks to all who tirelessly fought for this historic accomplishment. Today wouldn’t have happened w/our you! Kudos to the civil servants who worked hard to prepare for us for this vote!
It is unacceptable that Governor Youngkin and his administration have made an error that leaves
Fairfax County Public Schools with an $18 million shortfall and a $201 million gap overall to public schools across Virginia.
I
#WearOrange
for
#NationalGunViolenceAwarenessDay
because I am committed to ending gun violence. We have lost too many loved ones to this epidemic and we must have the moral courage to prevent our communities from having to endure more pain.
I cannot wait to share this with my daughters and tell them the stories of these incredible women, who, right now, are standing against hate, racism, misogyny, and nativism. Honored to be included among this group of
#Avengers

#FutureIsFemale
I was proud to have my daughter with me as I cast my vote to make Virginia the 38th state to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment. We are one step closer to enshrining equality in the United States Constitution!
It's official! Today I filed my paperwork to run for re-election in VA’s 42nd District. I’m so proud of what we were able to accomplish during my first term in the House of Delegates. But there’s still more to do. Chip in $5 today to support my campaign.
We gaveled in at 10:30am & adjourned at 10:14pm.
In the nearly 12 hours on the floor today, we didn’t let up our fight for a more just & equitable Virginia.
And we weren’t going to let a bill aimed to prevent our country’s complete history from being taught go unchecked. 🙌
Tonight, we introduced 10 amendments to HB 787 to protect the ability to teach key concepts that are necessary to protecting & understanding our nation's history. We need to

If you didn’t think the stakes were high enough in Virginia this year, read this. We have to flip

blue. Women’s lives depend on it.

Great meeting my constituent, Cecilia, while grabbing groceries tonight. She shared that I’m the 1st Asian American she had a chance to vote for to represent her. I’m proud to bring the perspectives of our community to
#VA
state government.
#RepresentationMatters
I opposed the whitewashing of our history curriculum at tonight’s
@VDOE_News
hearing. Knowing our complete history, how it has shaped our country, and how its legacy affects us is key to helping our kids embrace the opportunities & address the challenges we face now.
@ me next time. Your supporters in Virginia want to ban abortion in the Commonwealth. We're going to stop them and
#FlipItBlue2019
. Then we're going to stop you from getting reelected in 2020.
Chairman: If "it’s obvious that a woman is about to give birth, she has physical signs that she is about to give birth. Would that still be a point at which she could request an abortion?"
Democrat Kathy Tran: “My bill would allow that, yes.”
Canvassed for
@timkaine
@JenniferWexton
in Crosspointe today. Both know how much the thousands of federal civil servants living in the 42nd District, throughout
#VA
& across our country do to serve our communities & they will always stand up for them.
#BlueWave
#ChangeIsComing
“The budget shows that Youngkin ‘doesn’t understand the needs of everyday Virginians. We need a governor and a budget that put working families first,’ said Tran, who chairs the House's Democratic Caucus.”
Today our 5 yr old wondered if he should keep secret the fact he’s Jewish so no one will shoot him. We said No, always be proud of who you are. Then we canvassed in the 42nd District to reelect
@timkaine
@ElectConnolly
two leaders who know our diversity strengthens our country.
I was honored to participate in a legislative roundtable with
@VP
this morning about this critical time in our fight for reproductive Justice, voting rights, and equality and to share what we’re doing in Virginia to make sure we stay a safe haven for abortion care.
For 10 years,
@MomsDemand
has been pushing for common sense Gun violence prevention measures - I am so proud to stand with my constituents and neighbors in this important fight.
Thanks for your advocacy and I know you will continue to be a leading voice in the years to come!
While I'm glad for the one vote that led to
@shelly_simonds
victory today, I'm also celebrating ALL of the voters and volunteers who were determined to make their voices heard this past Nov. YOU are why we have a 50-50 split. Thank you!
#WhenWeVoteWeWin
#EveryVoteCounts
We are at the table - Our voices are strong and we are ready to lead. Proud to be part of this incredible sisterhood and incoming freshman class of the
#VA
House of Delegates. And grateful my daughters will look at us and know, without question, they too can run and win.
With Governor Youngkin pushing a 15 week abortion ban, I'm proud to be endorsed by Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia. I will always fight to protect reproductive choice in Virginia.

We are still fighting in three VA House races for every vote to be counted. We’re only two seats away from winning back Dem control of the VA House. Please chip in whatever you can to help us fund the Virginia House Democratic Caucus’ recount efforts:
I am honored to be appointed Deputy Whip for the
@VAHouseDems
. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the upcoming legislative session as we continue to move our Commonwealth forward!
I finished knocking my last pack in HD18 for this election. Too much is at stake, from protecting abortion care, to supporting public schools, to reducing gun violence to taking climate action to expanding voting rights. I’m proud we’ve left it all on the field - Let’s Go!
I am honored to be elected to represent the 18th District in the House of Delegates. Thanks to all of our supporters for helping us engage voters during this critical election. I'm excited to get to work with our Democratic majorities to build a more just and equitable Virginia.
I'm honored to be endorsed by
@emilyslist
for my re-election this year. I'm committed to fighting for reproductive justice and keeping this seat blue! 💪
August is National Breastfeeding Month & this week is
#WorldBreastfeedingWeek
. As a nursing mom with a newborn, I am proud we passed the Pregnant Worker Fairness Act this year, requiring employers to make reasonable accommodations for pregnant and breastfeeding Virginians.

I’m honored the voters of the 42nd District have re-elected me to continue serving our community in the House of Delegates.
Thank you - Whether you voted for me, knocked doors, phone banked, wrote postcards or generously chipped in, we could not have won without you
When my mom asked me if I had any masks, I froze. She was going on a cross country flight in mid-February 2020. At that time, COVID-19 cases were starting to be diagnosed in the United States & there was not yet guidance or requirement about wearing masks.
My kids are 17 months, 5, 7 & 9 years old. The idea that they could represent themselves & our family situation in court is absurd. Seeking asylum is within our laws. We must reinstate & honor that process & reunite *all* parents & kids of *all* ages ASAP.
I just finished phone banking for
@JennMcClellanVA
!
The Democratic primary for Virginia’s CD4 is on 12/20 - please help get out the vote for Jenn by texting, phone banking, canvassing, and more! Check out volunteer opportunities at
And, YES, we need more AAPI women and women of color to run for office at all levels.
If you’re thinking about it, the answer is:
👏 YES 👏 YOU 👏 SHOULD 👏
Reach out and I’ll be glad to help.
The sexual assault allegations against Lt Gov Fairfax are serious. Dr. Tyson & Ms. Watson deserve a chance to come forward to seek justice. I join my Democratic colleagues in the VA House & Senate to call for the Lt Gov to resign & receive due process as a private citizen.
While we may feel vulnerable in this moment, we must honor everyone who has fallen victim to hatred by standing together, speaking out, reporting hate crimes, and demanding change. Be an ally. There is light ahead. We *will* rise up.
#StopAAPIHate
Today, along w/a jubilant crowd, I was honored to witness
@GovernorVA
sign budget bills that include
#MedicaidExpansion
to 400,000 Virginians, pay raises for teachers & law enforcement, increased mental health services & so much more. A truly game-changing day for so many in
#VA
!
I am concerned peaceful protesters are being denied access to medical care & continue to lack consistent access to food. This is inhumane. Our right to peacefully protest is fundamental to our democracy and we cannot undermine this right. I urge
@GovernorVA
to

Today I went to Bent Mountain in Roanoke County with my medical colleague Dr. Greg Gelburd to try to provide medical care to Red and Terry Minor, tree sitters who are protesting the Mountain Valley Pipeline.
I am a proud, unapologetic and unbossed Asian American. Today is the start of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month and I look forward to celebrating our history, heritage, accomplishments and contributions to our country!

5 kids, 4 schools, and a wonderful start to the school year!
Wishing all students, families, teachers, and staff an awesome and healthy school year full of learning, fun, and friendship!

America offered us refuge even tho public opinion was against it. The US has been our home for nearly 40 years. My parents became US citizens. My brother serves in the military & I in my state government. Ours is one example of the vibrancy of the Vietnamese American community.
Congrats
@carterforva
and welcome to the Sleepless Parents Caucus :)
In all seriousness, our little ones inspire and remind us, like nothing else can, of all that we are fighting for.
We voted! It was very special to have my parents with us - We came to this country as boat refugees and it was meaningful to be with them when they saw my name on the ballot. I carry their hope, strength, and resilience with me in my work to build a Virginia where we all thrive.
A couple of hours to go before polls close across the country. We’ve been canvassing & Mary’s been texting and phone banking...Every vote is critical, so reach out to family, friends, neighbors and tell them to vote and elect
@JoeBiden
&
@KamalaHarris
!
#BidenHarris2020
#GoVoteVA
Republicans just adjourned the VA special session after less than two hours, and without considering a single bill. Virginia is facing a gun violence epidemic, and this refusal to govern is unacceptable. We need to vote them out in November.
#VotesandLaws
Proud to have voted for another
#VA
House budget that includes
#MedicaidExpansion
. Glad for bipartisan support to make sure that about 400,000 Virginians have access to healthcare.
@VASenate
, it's your turn.
In my first term, we expanded Medicaid to 400,000 Virginians, advanced redistricting reform & increased teacher pay. But I'm not done fighting for VA women & families. There's a lot at stake in November & I'll need your help.
#VA42
#VAleg

@RepWexton
is giving a master class in public service, continuing to serve her constituents and all Virginians with incredible strength, courage, and resolve — and we are so grateful for her.
Like I said when I announced my PSP diagnosis, this disease sucks.
It’s been a difficult journey but I’m working as hard as ever to serve
#VA10
.
I'm sharing my experience to raise awareness of what PSP is and why it's so important to find a cure.
Women’s health is under assault across the country. Excited to work with
@NARALVirginia
to flip control of
#valeg
so medical decisions are made by a woman and her doctor, not politicians in Richmond
@NARALVirginia
is proud to endorse
@KathyKLTran
! Kathy is a courageous leader who trusts women to make their own personal healthcare decisions & understands the critical importance of protecting and expanding access to high-quality, compassionate, reproductive healthcare.
#HD42
It’s Election Day! VA Democrats have delivered on:
✔️ Voting rights
✔️ Healthcare
✔️ Worker rights
✔️ Criminal justice reform
✔️ Climate action
✔️ Equality
Today, we vote to keep building a more just VA -
#Keep42Blue
and elect
@TerryMcAuliffe
,
@HalaAyala
&
@MarkHerringVA
! 🗳
This is one in a very long list of actions this Administration has taken to systematically attack immigrants & refugees. It is meant to further divide us. It is cruel & I will always use my voice to stand up to unjust policies that are contrary to the values of our country.
I was proud to join
@NARALVirginia
's rally today to stand up for women's reproductive freedom. 72% of Virginians support access to abortion care without interference from politicians, and I will continue to fight for women's ability to make their own health care decisions.
I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve been named the Chair of the Natural Resources Subcommittee - I look forward to working with Delegate
@KenPlum1
, Chair of the Agriculture, Chesapeake, and Natural Resources Committee to protect our environment.
With session underway, I door knocked in Hunt Valley to hear directly from neighbors about their priorities for the 42nd. Glad to have this young man's company! And thanks to Mrs. K for sharing a book about Vietnamese refugees in the Philippines -look forward to reading it!
Today we honor the 120,000+ Japanese Americans who were wrongly incarcerated during WWII and their resilience. May we teach a complete and accurate history, and include AAPI experiences, so we do not repeat these egregious wrongs again.
On this Day of Remembrance of Japanese American Incarceration During World War II, we must recommit ourselves to combating xenophobia and racism, fighting for civil rights and liberties for all people, and standing united against AAPI hate.
Last night, six Asian American women were murdered in a shooting rampage in GA. We see in them our mothers, daughters, sisters & wives. My 8 year old asked why I am so sad today. I told him the women looked like me & his sisters.
