PayPal is expensive. Last we measured it cost 14x more to use PayPal vs TransferWise. Now Andersen Consulting tested 12 currency routes USD, GBP, EUR, AUD and discovered it is now 19x more expensive to use PayPal. Yes, 1800% more expensive.

Lying about exchange rate markups seems common in Spain. Maybe because the €2 coffee is so cheap compared to London, the banks hope we don't notice. Here @santander_es confesses to 5.5% while the real charge is 7.0%.
