😢 When I moved to town at 17, the 1st #StJohns number I memorized was told to me by a guy who - when I asked for a cab # - said, “Just dial 7 then go mad with the 2s.” It got me home safe many times and “Cocker” Dunn’s voice was on the other end: “Jiffy Caaaaabs”. #nltraffic

I went to two protests today. In Mount Pearl, Yellow Vest protestors and counter-protestors stood on either side of a road. There were no clashes. Just some folks w/ signs signalling their msgs. Downtown I encountered this. Welcome to Newfoundland, Canada, folks.

I know many families w/ toddlers. I only know 2 paying $10. I know several moms who can’t return to work b/c they can’t find any child care. It’s misleading to say “$10-a-day Child Care Now a Reality for Families,” per the news release. It’s a reality for SOME families. #cdnpoli

Mom is babysitting V this week, and overhearing them looking out the window after breakfast with Mom telling her, “It’s a mauzy day,” makes me feel grateful we have parents within driving distance who can pass down bits of our culture, even if it’s just a word which I never say.

First, Canada’s chief public health officer is a woman. Provincially, we’ve got NL, NB, PEI, Alberta, BC, and NWT. 46% of the provincial CMOs are women, plus we’ve got Dr. Tam at the top. That’s pretty well parity! 🎉

I think the biggest positive to working from home (for me personally) has been having more time in the morning to make breakfast that isn’t just coffee and maybe a slice of toast.
