Rob Burrow, his family and Kevin Sinfield represent all that’s good about rugby league - decency, integrity, courage, loyalty, community, mateship, strength, friendship.

Latrell Mitchell describing the Totally Wicked Stadium pitch to Channel 9 as "probably worse than my farm, it was boggy as". Should go down well with the locals.
Ivan Cleary on the World Club Challenge:
"It was outstanding. It was great for the game. Feels like it's great for Super League. We were happy to come here. I think the UK is the place for this fixture."

were playing reserve grade for Manly. Now they're going to Old Trafford for the Super League grand final.
What a journey, good on em.
Channel 5 have announced that Adam Hills will be presenting their Super League coverage with Helen Skelton as reporter and Sam Tomkins, Leon Pryce as pundits for the first game, and Mark Wilson as commentator. Very good panel in my opinion, I’m looking forward to the telecast.
Rob Burrow was always one of the bravest players around, a small man in a sport of giants. He’s facing the most tragic of diseases with that same bravery and tremendous courage. It’s utterly heart-breaking what MND does to people and their families and friends

Whoever wins in the semi-final at the Emirates next Saturday, whether it’s England or Tonga/Samoa, needs to go on and win the World Cup.
Rugby league needs a new story, a new narrative. Something different.
Can you imagine an interview with Craig Bellamy during a game?
“Craig, what have you made of the contest so far? Fuck off.
“Thanks Craig.”

Channel 4 says Super League was the most appreciated program of any of its content in 2022. The first-ever game was the most watched game of the season, Leeds vs Warrington the season opener.
Fantastic cover of the Daily Telegraph sport liftout today. Now that’s advertising. Exactly what the sport needs. Also some good content instead from the follicly challenged
@rosshmediaman
None of the England players would talk to the media in the mixed zone except for George Williams, Mike Cooper and Herbie Farnworth. Full credit to them for taking the time to speak after a heart-breaking defeat.
Sky Sports have announced a rugby league takeover on the Arena channel between March 22-26. The channel will be showing non-stop rugby league with classic Super League games, NRL matches and documentaries, as well as the opening rounds of Super League and other RL content.
Toulouse have a fantastic set up on and off the field. More professional than many Super League clubs. Great stadium, excellent facility, well-run operation, good links with local government and local union side.
@TOXIII
bring a lot to the table and should be supported.
Only the second English team to do it in Australia, against statistically the best Australian club team of the past 40 years. A sensational feat that doesn’t get enough credit

- The year started in unforgettable style for St Helens. Their dynasty was completed by defeating Penrith in Australia to win the World Club Challenge!
60,866 the turnout for both days at

this year.
All things considering, a decent attendance.
Those who've been here, or watched on TV, have been entertained.
Tonga 16
Australia 12
History has been made tonight at Eden Park! Tonga have beaten the world champions for the first time! The Tongans are shaking up the rugby league world order. How good.
Super League allows a disgraced homophobe into the comp and then a club tries to ban rainbow flags at said homophobe’s debut.
A red letter day for rugby league.
When I asked Tim Sheens if the Wigan win might get some Hull KR fans off his back, he replied: “I don’t really care. Fans are the ones who turn up when you’re winning. Supporters are here when you don’t. I care for supporters, not people who blow in and blow out of the place."
“The conviction could have a devastating effect on the sportsman’s career”
Probably best not to drink-drive, do coke, beat up uni students or get in pub fights then
21,000 tickets sold. Already will have a bigger crowd then 95% of every other RL game held in England this year. The World Club Challenge has meaning, it’s the closest club RL will ever get to a Champions League final
Robert Elstone confirms a new 4-part Super League doco series to launch on Amazon Prime next week. And a weekly review show on Sky Sports that starts next week. Great to see, a big win
Super League Round One has been a record-breaker – a total attendance across the six fixtures of 76,699, smashing the previous record for a six-match opening round by more than 10% - and setting Super League’s best-ever average crowd for an opening round of 12,783.
The RFL won’t be investigating Hull FC after a small number of home fans chanted “If you can’t shag a women lick her arse” yesterday during the game against Castleford.
Salford getting to the Challenge Cup final this year, and the grand final last year, is a victory for culture, decency, spirit, good coaching, smart recruitment and hard work. The Koukash-era, with all the money, ego and off-field issues, achieved nothing.
The power of Sonny Bill - in the past few hours I've had one national newspaper ask for a piece on him, and a radio station contact me for an interview about him, Toronto and Super League.
That's cut-through.
When you have owners or former owners of rugby league clubs trolling foul-mouthed the official accounts of the opposition on social after a game, you don’t have to wonder why the sport is struggling. Completely classless
Just thinking about the Cas game, and Danny McGuire really is England's Johnathan Thurston. An outstanding, match-winning halfback who has had a great career. Should have played a lot more for England, and deserves more national respect and recognition.
NRL, NZRL and ARLC should organise the Kiwis and Kangaroos to play a series of Tests against Tonga Asap. All funds to go victims of the tsunami and the recovery of the island nation. Tonga provides plenty to rugby league, time to give back. Also welcome after 2021’s WC drama.
Am told RFL are hoping to sell more than 20,000 tickets for this Saturday’s Challenge Cup triple header, but have not cracked the 20k mark in pre-sales yet. Apparently Hull KR fans have been the biggest buyers so far.
This is a great idea: "St Helens R.F.C has donated the East Stand at the Totally Wicked Stadium for the Betfred Super League fixture vs Leeds Rhinos (Friday 10th September) to the local branches of the NHS, as a small token of gratitude for the hard work and sacrifice they have
Breaking: English Rugby League has entered into a major 12-year partnership with IMG to transform the sport in the UK, increase commercial income and attract new fans.
‘That’s the genius of the Murdochs’ management of the place: They collect the cash while evading responsibility and letting their hosts work primarily for Mr. Trump.’

on Fox News & a secret settlement
12,000 at England vs Tonga at the Totally Wicked Stadium. St Helens average 12,782 at the same ground in Super League.
If international rugby league is what people want, and is needed for growth, then it needs to be supported. By a bigger advertising push and media drive as well
Sky Sports has confirmed it will show the Women’s Super League Grand Final on October 11. It will be the first Women’s Super League fixture to be televised, and Sky’s first live domestic women’s match.
Great news for the women's game.
Finally confirmed by the RFL that Jackson Hastings IS eligible for England and Great Britain selection in the next two months. The right paperwork has been submitted. In my eyes, should be a certainty for selection
The Rugby League World Cup going to France in 2025 could be huge for the sport. Games all around the country, investing in a nation with a strong RL history, taking away from the traditional Oz and UK hosting switch, attractive location for fans etc. A real coup by the IRL.
Looks like the Wakefield vs Catalans game will be on at this stage despite the storm.
*Obviously gay marriage is to blame for the storm. It’s God’s wrath.
*sarcasm for those unsure.
Asked Kristian Woolf about not winning Super League coach of the year this year, or in the past three years. His answer was epic: “It doesn’t matter, I won the one that mattered [at Old Trafford]”.
Sad that
@MoseMasoe
’s rugby league career is over but the main thing is he walks again and can be active with his family. Hope he makes a full recovery.
Another reminder of the sacrifices that players make to play a brutal sport that entertains fans.
Spoke to two people in my Leeds office today. Both had no idea Australia and NZ are playing in a World Cup semi-final at Elland Road tomorrow. Still so much to do.
Hull KR vs Wigan is 1:45pm, Challenge Cup Semi Final, BBC ONE on Saturday 18th of May.
And Huddersfield vs Warrington is 3:15pm, Challenge Cup Semi Final, BBC TWO on Sunday 19th of May.
There better be millions of you out there watching. None of this "I didn't know bollocks".
