@elegationvain If you listen to older AGPs (trans, crossdressers etc) 99% of them say they felt this way since 5/6yrs old, but were confused &too ashamed to talk about. It’s not a stretch to say with more acceptance of male gender bending, boys will identify as trans rather than stay closeted.

@elegationvain This reminds me of Blanchard's findings, and why he doesn't really believe AAP is the AGP analog. Most, but probably not all, AAPs specifically want to be gay men, while most AGPs simply want to be women. The thought of being a lesbian is an afterthought, not a specific desire.

The research made sense to me, but, no offense to Blanchard or Bailey, what helped me the most was seeing an AGP peer , namely Phil, being real and chill about the whole thing, just living his life. To not use it, and disregard it as a useful metric, is unfortunate.

Medication and/or psychotherapy is how these individuals are being "helped". If a trans person is dysphoric they aren't medicalizing for social status.
