Feeling powerless as a designer made me contemplate switching to PM.
But instead of switching, I created the IMPACT frameworkβa solution that empowered me to create change without changing my title.

Yes. I love the part of design where you are really centered around solving a problem and PMs feel like they are able to help steer that direction. What Iβve learned with time though is I donβt love all the other, more project management types of responsibilities that come with
@itspatmorgan
No, I havenβt. But for some reason, there is a strong stereotype that product management is the only possible way up or further in a senior designerβs career.

Iβve never worked a job where there was a clear line between project management and UX
Often, UX design is so tied up in how it works, who it serves, how youβll market it, what itβs built on & how to collapse risk among those things that project management is hard to tease out
@itspatmorgan
I've experienced both roles. As a PM, I found that there was significantly less time for myself to get into a state of flow, which ultimately made me less content at work, despite the increased influence.

I kinda like being in the middle of design and product management: getting a sense of direction and learning about the business first, then taking to users and coming up with a solution to a problem.
