I left my job in August, completely burned out. At the time, I was: 1. Dreading design work 2. Anxious every morning before starting 3. Overwhelmingly pessimistic Definitely not my usual self. But now, 10 weeks later, I'm finally bouncing back.

@itspatmorgan Creative burnout is real and risky. I used to think I'd be able to power through it. But once you've experienced it, you realize that the risk of burnout isn't just that you'll need to slow down. Instead, the risk is that you feel like giving up on your goals altogether. Glad…

@iamchokago For sure. I've written about aspects of it a couple of times in more detail on my blog and will continue to talk about it here going forward.

@itspatmorgan Know the feeling. Can be a long and painful process to get back into the swing of things. Glad you’re getting back on track. Oh the joys of living life always on the edge of burnout

@itspatmorgan Doing what you love, and loving what you do has that power. I was in a very similar boat as you, around the same time. My family, a very close friend, and this wonderful community have been a massive boost of energy and confidence.

@itspatmorgan Glad you are feeling better. What (if any) were the warning signs that led to your burnout? Could you have done anything differently to prevent it?

@MikeDeMar Thanks, Mike. Hard to say. I wish I would have respected the 3 growing feelings I mentioned in the main tweet earlier, which were all unusual for me. Probably should have left my job sooner to tend to those feelings and recover. I didn't need the money, but it's hard to leave…

@vogtbot @jeffwangdesign A couple of things, I think: - Taking time away from working for someone else - Putting my creative energy into my own projects - Spending more time focused on community, both local and online
