Most companies don't need to be innovating on UI design. They need to be following the lead of the innovators and trying to nail best practices. That's it.

Let the content dictate the pattern, and if the pattern has been solved and is used at scale, strongly consider using that pattern. But sometimes, improve, if content dictates.

True! I think this is the reason companies, instead of following UI trends, are just simplifying their designs more and more. The best example for this could be the recent UI change in Shopify's design system.

As a general principle and specially when you’re building products from scratch, a worthwhile strategy is to look and adopt solutions to “solved problems” as much as possible 🤷🏻♂️ its more about curation and then later innovation.
