Former Head Ranger & Wildlife Officer mon badgers & otters - cam trapper - author of 'From Badgers to Nighthawks' & 'The Tales of Old Billy Badger'🦡🦦🦇🦔🐾
Something to make you smile after seeing the horror of the dead badger hanging from Chris Packham's gate. These are the nutters from last July. Hopefully, we will be seeing this again before too long.👍
Ewe & lamb, badger & cub in total harmony. Somewhat contradicts the total rubbish banded about regarding badger & sheep predation by the anti-badger brigade!
Whilst on the topic of foxes & the sick comment of "all I see is vermin" in ref to the 2 foxes playing in the veg patch. Meet Muffles, she was my adorable bit of pet vermin for almost 15 years! She was beautiful both inside & out & loved meeting kids. Still miss her!
I've mentioned in previous tweets the importance of providing clean fresh water for wildlife during hot, dry spells & this badger from the No-Tail clan couldn't illustrate the point better! Tweeted it a few weeks back but thought it worth a 2nd viewing👍🦡🦡
No speaking to this bunch of Nutters after last nights viewing of Badgers-Their Secret World. All they've done ever since is charge around like a bunch of lunatics exclaiming 'we've on tele, we've been on tele!!!
And 'did you see us with the sheep?'!!!
Something to make you smile on a Sunday morning. The cubs charging around in July with not a care in the world.
Been on before but thought it worth a second tweet
Nothing like a good old tummy scratch after sleeping away the day deep in the sett, occasionally being disturbed from your slumbers by the grunts & snores of other clan members resonating through the tunnels. 🦉🦊🐞🦋🐝🐜🕷🦇
Two mums together - 1 of my favourite clips from April 19.
A ewe & her lambs along with a badger sow & her cub. Something startles the badger mum but she reappears again.
The flashing light in the background is a 2nd cam being tripped.
This lot from the Nutter clan were the stars of a 12 min film shown at the excellent Scottish Badger conference today.
They have been on tele a few times, feature in my presentations & now the Scottish Badger conference.
What next?!!!!
The dog otter leaps out to nip the badgers bum! Its the same young badger from the previous clip & the same otter. I've monitored otters & badgers for many years & filmed interaction before but never quite like this!!
Its pretty unique & unusual footage! 🦡🦡🦡🦡
Fox by the old fallen hollow tree. The fox is very much maligned & persecuted by the hunts, terrier men in general & gamekeepers. The fox is one of our most attractive of native animals & to know the spirit of the fox is truly magical.🦊
This unique footage of a sow moving her tiny cubs is 3 videos stitched together. She moves the 1st & returns twice more until all 3 have been moved to another part of the sett.
If you listen closely on the last 1 you may hear them calling.
Nice to see badgers just chilling rather than fighting for their lives at the hands of badger digging scum bags. This is why I fight their corner in court to help prosecute these sadistic, cowardly thugs.
A clip from July last year. A young fox enjoying a drink from my woodland water bath followed by a badger.
I wonder if the young fox is still with us? I hope so.
How anyone can kill such a beautiful animal is beyond my comprehension. 🦊🦡
Something to put a smile on your faces after reading the awfully distressing account regarding badgers on the Wirral yesterday. See tweet below. There are some extremely, cruel & sadistic individuals out there.
The Nutter clan just chilling & messing around as they do. Regarding the theft of the cameras at this location.
A police investigation is under way, can't say more at the moment but if the culprit is reading this, the net is closing in!! 👮🚔
Badger tentatively inspects a couple of 2 day old lambs - pretty soon there will be bouncing about & hopefully interacting with the cubs that will soon be above ground playing.
2 young foxes on the fallen oak branch. Magic! Thankfully this farmer & landowner, despite keeping sheep & free range chickens, adores foxes & welcomes them onto his land.
If only all farmers were of the same frame of mind!
Just come in at 11pm from sitting on the garden bench enjoying a decent scotch & listening to the sounds of the night when a badger comes along & pauses to sniff my shoe before ambling off down the path. No money in the world can buy that connection with nature?👍🦊🦉
One of the No-Tail clan finding the hot, dry weather a bit too much takes relief in the woodland water bath.
Access to fresh, clean water is vital regardless of the season but particularly so during a hot, dry conditions.
From March this year - a badger tentatively sniffs a tiny lamb.
These sheep & badgers are part & parcel of each other's lives & happily coexist living side by side. I have filmed here for 5 years & accumulated hours upon hours of similar footage with not a hint of animosity.
Otter, fox, badger, mink & rare footage of a heron after a stoat. That's the beauty of trail cams, you just never know what will turn up next. You spend hours trolling through footage of boring stuff & then BINGO!! Thankfully I've had a lot of bingo's.👍🦡🦊
The sows have now given birth and not having an easy time of it at the moment. The weather is against them & the sett is suffering. This is 4 separate video clips I've put together of a sow moving her 4 very tiny cubs from 1 hole to another. Took her around 5 min to move all 4.
Like all badgers at this time of year, the Nutter clan are putting on the pounds ready for winter. Badgers don't hibernate, but their activity levels slow down. Here they are in June in full activity mode! Soon, the cycle of life will begin once again.
How's a ewe meant to get a bit of peace around here with these 2 messing around like a pair of juvenile delinquents? Just no respect these days, not like in my day. They'll get a head butt up the backside if their not careful! 🐏🦡🦡
Mum, Mum!!!! Stop ignoring me, I want to play!!!!
The latest edition to the Nutter clan pestering mum.
Ignore the date - taken in June not July.
This bundle of trouble is now following mum on her foraging expeditions & still getting into mischief! 😊🦡🦡
Spent over 2.1/2 hours of intense cross-examination by these scum bags 4 defence barristers in Cardiff Crown Court.
Great result but far too lenient a sentence.
BBC News - Badger baiters guilty after BBC undercover investigation
Fox cubs on cam around my friend's farm. Despite being a sheep farmer & keeping free-range chickens, he loves to see them. He's never lost a lamb to a fox & is adamant that they do far more good than bad. If only everyone was of the same attitude!👍🦊🦊🦊🦊🦊🦊
From 2019 but considering we are now into lambing season thought it worth another viewing.
1 of the Nutter clan merely curious about the lambs & not dragging it into the sett for supper as some would have believe. This interaction happens every year.
The variety of creatures recorded on or by the fallen oak branch spanning the river is amazing. Here we have stoat, lesser horseshoe bat & badger. Others are otter, weasel, squirrel, fox, polecat + a wide variety of bird species from kingfisher to egret.
The floods arrived in the early hours of the 12 June with the river only mt away from the sett & I was concerned over the safety of the cubs. But here we are on the 13th with 3 cubs romping around with not a care in the world!
Another reminder of how important it is to provide fresh, clean water for our wildlife during this period of very dry weather. Here we have a buzzard followed by a sparrowhawk taking advantage of the woodland bath. Remember - Water -Water -Water!!👍
Been on before but well worth a retweet! A ewe with her lamb & badger sow with her cub all in total harmony!!
Footage captured 18 April 19. That tiny cub is now one of the demented nutters you see charging around.
This cam is at the bottom of my garden where I often get fox & badger but an otter was a real surprise. I film them regularly but never before in my garden! I suspect he's the dog otter that I monitor. The final species on the clip is Moggy the mad cat.👍🦊
NOT badger digging but 2 terriers whose owner allows them to roam free all night long. Here they are caught on cam causing tremendous disturbance to the badger sett. Arrived at 7.30pm & left at 1.15am. These are the badgers you see on my videos. Bloody infuriating!! Being sorted!
A ewe & her lamb totally happy & content as the badgers go about their business. Despite what some would wish you to believe, badgers & sheep get on just fine👍
Been on before but always worthy of a repeat.
This years Nutter clan cubs will be born next month (Feb) & it wont be too long before they are romping around like demented imps same as this lot from 2019.
👍🦡🦡🦡🦡🦡🦡🦡🦡🦡
A farmer freind recently lost a couple of chickens to fox. He said "ha well, they have to live, I've never shot a fox in my life & I'm not starting now - just have to be more careful in future.
If only all farmers had the same attitude! 🦊🦊🦊
Meet old Basil, grinning the face over as usual! He was my tame boar badger rescued from a disgusting private zoo. Far too tame ever to be rehabilitated, he lived with me for many years before passing away at a ripe old age.
A young fox by the ancient fallen hollow tree. He's familiar with badgers & many of the other creatures that frequent this spot. But he's never encountered an otter before!! 🦦🦊
Despite COVID I finally got out to check my cams yesterday. Out in the sticks with not another soul in sight. Good to catch up with the Nutter clan again!👍🦡🦡🦡🦡🦡🦡🦡🦡🦡
