100,000th made-in-India BMW, a 740Li rolls out of

‘s Chennai plant. It’s taken BMW India 12 years to hit this landmark figure which China does every 2 months! Last year BMW group sold around 840k cars in China. Gives some perspective on size of our lux car market.

They’re still a maintenance nightmare & fussy shits. You’d reckon after 100,000 they’d at least learn to make them more reliable for the Indian road, but no.

Just wanted to understand if the chennai plants caters the domestic needs or it manufactures vehicles for export as well. If exports are also done than the numbers are low, if it’s only domestic than you know not everyone can afford ‘BMW’.

So many factors, the taxation system of our country & also these manufacturers resulting in sky high prices, then the infrastructure which is already crumbling, traffic jams most of the time in all major metros, drove from Delhi to Gurgaon yesterday evening took an hour n 45 mins

Came back at night & was back in 25 mins, same is the scenario in Mumbai. I think it'll take a few decades if not more to reach that level.

Can we compare the car prices in China vs India with regards to ppp?
Also what's the total cost of ownership between these two?
The last but most important thing is quality of roads, look at Mumbai / absolutely shoddy roads. Hardly take out my car and prefer to take a cab.
