Coordinated ‘Kashmir Day’ tweets from so called ‘franchises’ of major auto brands like Suzuki, Toyota, Isuzu, Honda, Kia suggests a bigger agenda across border. In retrospect, Hyundai unfairly singled out. Unequivocal apology in beginning may have helped douse social media fire
@hormazdsorabjee
Agreed.
The crux is did Pakistan arm twisted these companies to comply or was it a voluntary act? If former, it’s understandable and I can understand them having to comply (remember Fab India?). If not, then it’s absolutely condemnable!
@hormazdsorabjee
The rather condescending reply from Hyundai India fanned the flames. A proper measured response would have prevented this from blowing up the way it did.
@hormazdsorabjee
That is why we must buy and promote our Indian brands like Tata and Mahindra, because foreign brands are here for profits only. They will not hesitate to go against national interest for their profits.
@hormazdsorabjee
Hyundai India comms team should have responded proactively and swiftly. Since they continue to be country's second most preferred brand for 4 wheelers, this PR fiasco won't affect them much.
Most international brands in Pakistan are franchises owned by former generals or people beholden to them.
Boycotting their Indian counterparts for the actions of Pakistani companies would be counterproductive.
@hormazdsorabjee
Hence better stick to brands who are really apolitical and truly global in nature and their behaviour too. Our own
@TataCompanies
@MahindraRise
are best examples of truly glocal brands focussing best product and customer needs rather than riding the wave of political campaigns
@hormazdsorabjee
It's purely initiated by Pakistan & China together, to destroy image of india across the world, they want to stop india growth era...

It's an interesting case study on how to manage pr fiasco. Communication should have been swift & the wording that was issued in the second statement should have come first. Anyway it's easier to be wise in hindsight, this is likely to pass in a few days time
@HyundaiIndia

@Suhelseth
Since all the Indian counterparts of these multi national companies are going to distance themselves from the tweets of their Porki brethren one by one, 05 Feb should be celebrated by all of them operating in India as “Iam Sorry Day”. This won’t be the last time.
@hormazdsorabjee
pak does such things not surprised but the problem is when ppl asked abt
#Hyndai
stand, they simple blocked. and they did not issued apology initially.
@hormazdsorabjee
@Suhelseth
KFC was very quick off the block to douse the fire. The ham handed handling on SM by Hyundai India, did not help their cause
@hormazdsorabjee
@hormazdsorabjee
these companies should penalize those dealers who post these from official handles. That's the policy every MNC follows if any employees violate their policies. Government should ask them to comply.
