AFTER A WHOLE YEAR OF DROPPING OUT FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA, I AM GOING BACK TO SCHOOL. 😭 I’M SO PROUD OF MYSELF. I graduated high school from Kayenta, AZ in 2014 and then went straight into the U of A that fall, but dropped out just before the Spring 2017 semester.

A non-Native POC in my AIS class asked the professor, “are we gonna talk about the genocide of Natives?” As a Native, I was filled with a sense of sorrow, but also some pride. Sorrow, bcuz I know the history of my ancestors. Pride, bcuz someone actually asked about my ancestors.

Lol it’s hilarious when this white kid and his white followers are the only ones giving him praise whilst ignoring our collective voices as Native people and calling us sensitive, but when they get called mayonnaise, they wanna hide behind white tears and play victim 🤷🏽‍♂️

If Native people threw off this balance, they knew how to take care of the problem.

Natives were barely granted access to their own land 40 years ago. 40 YEARS AGO. Imagine barely gaining access to your OWN land. Colonizers really ain’t shit.

Congress passed the American Indian Religious Freedom Act in 1978 to ensure “access to sacred sites.” Forty years later, Native Americans still struggle to protect their sacred lands.

There’s a Navajo family on the Rez trying to sell these at the flea market for groceries. Another selling these to make a car payment in the next town over. It’s our livelihood. Support Native artists!

as you enjoy ur meal on stolen land today, remember that there are Native families struggling to survive, especially in this pandemic, rn. And the best thing you can do is directly donate or buy Native. behind every Native person, there’s a family // community they support!!

just a reminder that donating to one Native person is also helping a community, bcuz that one person is often carrying their family, relatives, & community on their backs!! helping that person survive // prioritize themselves helps bcuz we literally prioritize our communities!!

This is Ben. He’s a white. He’s not Native. He’s not Rez. He gave his white opinion to Natives that are proud of one of their own. He doesn’t see that his white ass opinion is actually a low class one. He’s probably racist. Don’t be like Ben.
