I'm very interested to know if there were any Kentucky high school boys basketball teams that had a highly successful year with homegrown players. By highly successful, I mean 20+ wins or district or regional title. By homegrown I mean players raised in that school district.

Henry County athletics will never be the same. John S. (Johnny Buck) Roberts passed away Friday night after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis and a shorter but even more daunting battle with COVID-19. To read the rest of the story go to:

Aubrey Kirk hit a game-winning RBI single to give the Lady Cats their fourth straight district title.
In her five seasons as Henry County softball head coach, Ally Vaughn’s overall record sits at 100-34 after tonight’s win over Gallatin County.
She also remains undefeated in 31st District action for her career with over 50 district wins.

She is the third player during coach Jim Hook's tenure to hit that milestone.

She also surpassed 1,000 career points in December.
Boys basketball final: Henry County 52, Owen County 51
Traevon Wright hit the game-winning free throw with 12.4 second remaining to give the Wildcats a big district victory on the road.

Coach Matt Wright also confirmed the Wildcats will be the No. 4 seed in the district and qualify for the Class 4A playoffs.

I really enjoyed covering the senior Lady Cats and Wildcats softball and baseball players this season. I've watched them since they were freshmen and they never lost their passion for the game.
