If FS1 wants to be taken seriously as a national sports outlet, prolly a good idea to have analysts who don't use the terms 'we' and us' when breaking down a game they didn't play in.
10 wins. Another top 15 finish for Ferentz. 6th season of 10 wins or more for Ferentz. 8 seasons with nine or more wins. 19 wins over the past two years combined. Bowl wins the last two years that look nothing alike, over ranked teams. Folks, this is the good stuff
Here is the free throw Jordan Bohannon missed on purpose that would have broken Chris Street's record. And then a minute later, back to the line, you see his homage to Street. He made them both.
13 years ago today I took my last drink. 13 years ago tomorrow God stepped in and performed a miracle in my life. I write about it here with the hope that someone who is struggling right now will see there is hope. All glory belongs to God.
We lose our exclusivity over Caitlin Clark, but we don’t lose her. She’ll be the

pick in a week and we’ll all be Fever fans. She should be on Team USA in Paris. This isn’t over.
Iowa, with the worst offense in modern college football history, is a Cooper DeJean arm wave away from 9 wins in 10 games. For context, that would match Iowa State’s highest win total ever.
One day you wake up and find you have finished a climb you once thought had no end. Then you spot another peak, sheer and majestic. You are a climber, not contented to remain in the comfortable places. The mountains are calling and you must go. Adios, friends. Peace to you all.
I've seen some silly commentaries relative to Megan Gustafson, as if because she's a woman, we can't consider her the greatest bball player ever at Iowa etc. I'll make it simple; if there were a Mt Rushmore of Iowa Hawkeyes, she and Nile Kinnick are on it. You can debate other 2
9 wins in regular season, just the sixth 9 win reg season in the Ferentz era and 10th in school history. Less than 10% of Iowa seasons ever have ended with 9 wins in reg season. If you can't celebrate and enjoy that without adding ANY 'YEAH BUT' caveats, I feel sorry for you
I thank the heavens above that my 16 year old self didn't have the landmine of social media to play in. I mean, use some common freaking sense. If you find one tweet, from eight years ago, that's not reflective of who someone is today, let it freaking lie dormant
Noah Fant has a life altering NFL contract ahead of him. I don’t blame him one bit for not playing in Iowa’s bowl/exhibition game. If he were my son I’d advise the same.
Frost called two timeouts to try to ice him...it's sports. The amount of trash Nebraska players rolled out before last year's game, in warmups, come on. If you talk it, back it up. If you can't back it up, then don't talk it.
I've been watching Iowa hoops since 1980. That I can remember. I don't know if anyone in my lifetime ever gave more than Nicholas Baer did....because you cant give more than your all.
That’s how it ends. I could not be more grateful to Coach McCaffrey for giving me this opportunity. I love this program and this university. It’s been an honor to work with this group and call these men my brothers. Thank you for all the support. Go hawks baby.
Over the last two seasons we’ve gotten every minute of basketball possible from these women. We get 40 more today, and that’s it. Let’s enjoy it. Oh, and bring home a Natty.
Bullshit. Just because the PC crowd Runamuck wants to apply some racist attribute to a fictional character from cinematic and literary history, who represents strength and power, only the small minded or politically charged have the power to give it racist overtones
There are tens of thousands of grown men, many older than 50, who have been holding onto a piece of ribbon for 90 minutes, and that ribbon is attached to a single, lonely red balloon...this will continue for at least another 20 minutes...and perhaps, all through the night
So to summarize, the
@DMRegister
put someone in a story, that person did some tweet digging and found some very old dirt, the great editor minds decided to push forward with it, and the tweet digger's history is ghastly. Congrats for crapping where you eat, Register Editor.
There were times in my youth that I remember walking around Iowa City, and wondering if maybe, just maybe, I am stepping where Hayden Fry had once walked. He was larger than life to me then. He was a Hall of Fame football coach, but a Hall of All Time human being.
Kirk Ferentz now has 95 Big Ten wins. This ties him with Paterno for 5th all time in league history. Hayden Fry sits in 4th with 96. So if Iowa wins its next two games, Kirk would end the season as the third winningest coach in Big Ten history
I really thought much more highly of Frost when he was hired, and much less so on PJ Fleck. After three years, Fleck has proven to be a leader of men...while Frost has proven to be more akin to a spoiled kid who was born on third and believes he hit a triple.
This is one of the most PC moves that I can recall the University of Iowa making, I think it’s absolute garbage, and if I were Dolphin I’d likely flip them the bird and say you could have this nickel and dime gig. I’d love to know who or how anyone was even upset by this
Hawkeye radio voice, Gary Dolphin, suspended for the remainder of the season for comments made during Tuesday's broadcast of the Iowa-Maryland men's basketball game.
STORY:
As you go to bed tonight and wake up tomorrow, take a moment to enjoy this.
The Hawkeyes won a National Championship and an NCAA Tournament game tonight.
I'll record one last instant reaction podcast coming up, before I step aside for good. Thanks again to all of you for helping me to live out all of my childhood dreams.
Iowa's knocks off

Texas Tech 72-61 in Vegas. They didn't shoot it well, neither did Tech. But they were the tougher team and that was fun to watch. Don't know where this season will end up but that was a lot of fun.
In honor of CJ Beathard playing for the 49ers today, for day eight of our 20 favorite plays before the start of the 2020 season, we are featuring CJ's 85-yard touchdown pass to Tevaun Smith in the 2015 Big Ten Championship.
Gorilla’s can get to 5’6 tall. King Kong, 1976 version, was 42 feet tall. King Kong was a fictional monster in a movie/book. Gary wasn’t comparing a black man to a gorilla. He was comparing a dominant force to a fictional character in a movie/book who was also a dominant force
Have a feeling many replied without reading the article, which is more than fair and openly supportive of Dolph — who I very much value as a friend & colleague. But as a paid professional communicator representing the university, you can’t compare a large black man to a gorilla.
I cannot begin to fathom the bravery it required to execute the orders to take this beachfront...heck, or even volunteer to enlist to fight. We owe it to their memory to never, ever forget, to pause, reflect, and respect.
Mouth breathers in the crowd, led by a man who doesn't have the depth to understand how his words, posture and tone matter a great, great deal....not because of who HE is, but due to the office he HOLDS. Americans deserve better than this. So does the world. This is sickening
Trump fans eventually break out in "send her back!" chants directed toward Ilhan Omar, a Somali refugee who serves in Congress who Trump viciously smeared.
It’s wild to have an offensive lineman-sized quarterback who can’t throw, can’t scramble, can’t feel pressure, can’t stop turning the ball over, and can’t push the pile on a sneak.
Also, apparently, can’t lose his job.
If I had told you before this season that Iowa would go undefeated in non conf, beat 5 ranked teams, spend 13 weeks in Top 25, qualify for & win at least one game in the NCAA tournament, would you have been pumped up? I would have been..and doubted those things would happen.
A Friday afternoon game at Rutgers to determine which is the worst team in the conference is probably exactly what Nebraska had in mind when it joined the Big Ten.
It’s ok to admit that the game changed when Clifford got hurt.
It’s also important to realize that a football team is not just the 22 guys who start on offense and defense.
That’s football.
Iowa's three losses are to teams ranked 8th, 12th and 13th by a combined 14 points, and Iowa has wins over teams ranked 10 and 22. The schedule was every bit as challenging as discussed all off season. Five out of ten games so far against Top 22 teams.
To that guy yesterday who was telling me Iowa doesn't have a great defense. Through eight games, two-thirds of the season, here are Iowa's national defensive rankings:
Scoring D: 3rd
Total D: 6th
Rushing D: 7th
Pass Dd: 12th
Opp 1st Downs: 4th
Incredible. Just incredible. Iowa gets this to overtime. Was down 25 at one point. Congrats to each and every one of those kids and coaches regardless what happens. As for me.....
One of the more satisfying Iowa hoops wins in a while. One of the toughest gyms to play in in all of college hoops, Iowa outhustled its Top 35 (kenpom) foe all night long, withstood a barrage, lead from 21 to 7, but they stayed composed.
