Butting in most uselessly here, I love the research into this stuff as always, but all I can think of is:
"I call her Isabel, because there IS a BELL in her cabin." Oliver said.
"Well." Thomas said, "I call her Clarabel. Because that is her name. You Stupid Thing."
It's funny because, in a way Toy Story is its own legend and the fact Pixar thrives is proof enough of its success, but this is a video of that legend being born.
James taking the Skarloey Engines to Tywyn for Awdry Extravaganza 3 on the 20th of July 2023 (when every other railway is striking so won't notice the Sodor engines breaking into our reality)
thinking about it for a while, but filming S12 must've been a depressing experience.
You've just filmed a massive expansive feature, but you can feel the end of the series as you know it hanging in the air, and then when you look through the lens, everything looks like this
The song "Some Things Never Leave You" was Burnett and Tasha's love song. While they both knew it was their love for each other that'd never leave, Tasha also felt that Lady's glares of disapproval would never leave her.
The Courtship of Burnett and Tasha must have been at least a little bit weird because you've got this guy who you love taking you back to his place and things start to perhaps get a bit intimate, a little slow dance here, a little hand hold there, and then suddenly you notice her
The obvious 'out of universe' explanation for this is that they just needed the shot regardless of prior appearances - but I like the 'in universe' implications of Bulgy's shortcut just being that he drives on the railway tracks for a bit - it's funnier and very in character haha
"Are you intrigued by my Three Funnels?" Merlin brayed, "I dare say you are! They are Experimentally Designed in a special way to make me appear invisible - should the need arise!"
The other engines liked Merlin, but felt he was making promises his funnels couldn't keep.
LADY HATT: I do love being able to explore the countryside Topham. All these wonderful spots to discover!
TOPHAM, in the middle of a locomotive crisis, hoping to find a long abandoned engine: Yes.
Thomas tried to go faster, but his Driver checked him.
"Can't we get closer to that car?" panted Thomas, "It looks like the Stationmaster's to me."

As the tank engines moved away, Gordon looked at Thomas and smiled. He took three deep breaths, and winked. He didn't need to say anything, Thomas knew exactly what he meant.

"The way you slide about with your brakes, you might slide off the rails one day!"
"I think I see your own business over there, Percy." Rebecca yawned, "Perhaps you should go mind it."
Percy chortled and headed off with his trucks.
Duck eyed the newcomer doubtfully. "So you must be Emily."
"And you must be Duck." Emily said, "Yes, I've got your number - you're the one who fusses about The Great Western Way."
She smiled sweetly.
"There's a new boss in town, feathers. And it's me."
Duck was speechless!
"You're on time - that's one in the headlamp for old Diesel." Gordon said.
"The magic he refused to believe in, got the better of him!"
"Uhm..."
"And helping each other brings to life the Magic..."
"Right, well-"
"...In all of us!"
Gordon laughed nervously. "What on earth."
WATERDOWN RAILWAY
PRIVATE OWNER ENGINES
DESIGNATION/S: Unknown
NUMBER: D13 002
LOCATION: Anderson Industrial Estate
"We have been able to collect very little factual information about D13 002 - the engine is restricted to the AI yards, and out of our reach to help them."
Duck watched Henry pull past him and give the special whistle.
"Gee," he thought to himself, "I hope nothing goes wrong tonight as I bank the Flying Kipper up the hill...!"

"We're not afraid of hard work" Rebecca grumbled, "But-"
"We draw the line at trucks!" said Gordon.
"Trucks spoil my paint." James put in.
"What're you boiler-aching for, eh?" said Nia, "On the East African Railway..."
"Yes, but we're not ON the East African Railway, are we?"
"Ruth is very clever because she's an inventor"
She's also very stupid because she's looking at the welder's torch without wearing the protective mask properly
The Fat Controller was cross.
"Alastor! WHAT do you THINK you are DOING?! You, Alastor, are on MY railway. You will do AS I say, WHEN I say it. DO you understahnd? You have caused Confusion and Delay - and BECAUSE of YOU - NONE of MY ENGINES is being Really USEFUL."
"fu-
"Peep peep!" said Nia "I'm ready!"
"Peep peep peep!" said Rebecca "So am I!"
"Pull hard - we'll do it! Pull hard - we'll do it!" they puffed together.
Gordon watched on, confused.
"This... isn't how it... where's... Edward? Henry? Where are my friends??? What is happening??"
The bike ran out of control down the ramp. The boy tumbled off just as Percy started away, but the bicycle swerved beneath Percy's wheels, and disappeared with a CRUNCH!

"My Mother was in the Airforce, My Father was in Search and Rescue... they were helicopter parents."
"..."
"Do you get it, Rusty? Helicopter parents!"
"I get it-"
"On account of how I'm a heli-"
"I GET IT."
horrifying AU idea
T&F is just the AEG characters playing popular TTRPG 'Tenders and Turntables' with Diesel as Station Master and is always like 'NEW RULE' whenever the others are gaining enough XP to stop them from becoming Really Useful Engines
I know this is a still of Thomas running, but since there's no sense of motion, it does look like Thomas is either having a flashback to a time he said 'you too' to a waiter telling him to enjoy his meal or has remembered he's left his passport at home on route to the airport
"Oh, whaddya gonna do? Change the channel? Watch Chuggington instead? Don't fool yourselves. You need me more than I need you, and you know that. Keep watching. You have no choice."
"The engines stood side by side in a big airy shed. Hundreds came to see them, and climbed in and out of their cabs every day. They liked it, but were glad when it was time to go home."
"Nothing anywhere can compare to The Fat Controller's Steam Team."
I know I'm going to have to do it myself, but I'd love to see an edit of the Eight Famous Engines cover but editing out Henry, Edward, Toby, and Duck - and placing Emily, Rebecca, and Nia in there in the same art style. I want to see the reaction really.
One of the engines in Nia's shed was named Gordon. He had been acting strangely recently.
"Isn't it a beautiful day?" Nia said, to no one in particular.
"Personally, I prefer clouds." Gordon grunted, as he steamed away.
Gordon felt like he was missing something... or someone...
"Toby's an Old Fusspot!" Mavis complained.
"Depend upon it Mavis," Diesel cooed, "Anything Steam Engines do, we Diesels can do better."
"Maybe I'll take trucks to Ffarquhar instead of Toby then!" Mavis said.
"Ffarquhar? I barely even Anopha!" Diesel quibbed.
"Giant Crane - is it cool if I keep this megaphone you just dropped and are absolutely not using?"
"..."
"So am I cool to keep this??"
"..."
"I'm taking that as a yes..."
