That content will always exist no matter how much we hate it, ITS SO IMPORTANT to be able to filter it and AO3 does it amazingly with its tagging system, PLEASE I beg people to understand this, bad and/or disgusting content will.always.exist.

Why do you all always use the “exclude things you don’t want to see” argument when ao3 faces some criticism. Why are you so hellbent on letting vicious fics exist like nsfw of children, real children even. It’s not just that you can exclude that, it simply should not exist

Don't consume from an archive if you can't use it, there are MANY *social media* apps and websites that are made for content consumers (Wattpad ig) instead of made for content creators (ao3)

Censoring is so much bigger and complicated than "just ban this gross stuff" it very complicated!!! Also before someone puts words in my mouth, OFC written adult content of real children shouldn't exist AND ITS NOT ALLOWED IN AO3 IN THE FIRST PLACE, ITS ON THE TOS!!!

Removing tags will only make the content unable to be filtered. Ao3 is an ARCHIVE founded explicitly against ANY censorship. It was formed after writers saw how quickly other sites devolved from, “We just want to ban the problematic fics,” into mass targeting of queer art.

@gundhhs Also I feel like people fail to mention that there will have to be some poor volunteer actually reading all this work to determine if it’s written in a “problematic” way or not 😭 the process just wouldn’t make sense
