This White House vaccine summit has gone way off the rails, with Trump ranting about his election loss, continuing to claim that he’s won, saying he hopes SCOTUS steps in, and regurgitating debunked conspiracy theories about “machines” and “ballots being taken away”

George Santos, GOP congressman-elect, admits some lies and tries to spin others.
Just heard that Mayor Bowser is kicking the Utah National Guard out of all DC hotels tomorrow. More than 1200 troops from 10 states are being evicted. This is unacceptable. 1/2
This tweet has 8k retweets, 11k+ likes, and it’s completely false. Those were *ballot applications* caused by people applying more than once, NOT actual ballots!! This is a great example of why you should double-check before RTing something about voting
1) Governor Kemp does not have this power 2) Signature matching already happened twice, first when the voter applied for the ballot and then the ballot was received. Ballots w/ mismatched signatures that the voter does not cure are not counted and not included in this recount
Why won’t Governor
@BrianKempGA
, the hapless Governor of Georgia, use his emergency powers, which can be easily done, to overrule his obstinate Secretary of State, and do a match of signatures on envelopes. It will be a “goldmine” of fraud, and we will easily WIN the state....

on the idea that voter suppression can be out-organized: “No. I appreciate the White House’s optimism but I believe it verges on naïveté. It already took historic organizing efforts to overcome voter suppression in 2020,” adds that it’s a “ridiculous premise”
Yes, because she has lupus. She wrote about it in the Atlantic in April: "Unnecessary shortages caused by false medical narratives peddled from the nation’s highest office not only create fear and anxiety in those who desperately need hydroxychloroquine"
Yes, that’s what happens when 1) a candidate spends months telling supporters not to vote by mail, creating stark partisan divides in how people vote, and 2) state legislatures don’t allow election officials to begin processing mail ballots prior to Election Day. No magic here
I hope Princess Kate has a full recovery — and can't help but just reflect on how poorly served she's been by the Palace's PR team. They let speculation & rumors run rampant for weeks....and then threw a cancer patient w/ young kids under the bus for a photo manipulation screwup!
Absolutely incredible — attorneys claiming to be representing the “states” of “New California” and “New Nevada” just filled an amicus brief in support of the Texas-led lawsuit seeking to overturn election results in 4 states

Important to note that a big reason why mail delivery is slow these days is b/c the Trump admin/Congress hasn’t given the USPS any bailout funds and has put in a postmaster general who is now having carriers prioritize delivery of commercial packages over that of regular mail
This is not the kind of editor's note you want to see in a story about yourself: "This piece has been updated with more detail about the call and the headline has been updated to reflect that Toobin was masturbating."

i don't know what's better: the fans cheering for the cat, the players struggling to contain their laughter, the fans booing when the cat left the field, or the commentators
Yankee Stadium security chases a cat around the field for nearly four minutes and never gets its hands on what might be the most elusive animal that ever lived
Yes, we’ve known this for months. It’s because the legislature has not created a standard, statewide cure process for mail ballots, leaving it up to the counties to decide to give voters a chance to cure their ballots. It’s the legislature who is responsible for the system
NEW affidavits filed in Pennsylvania, including texts & emails show that voters in Democrat-leaning counties were notified to fix their mail-in ballots whereas Republican-leaning ones were not‼️
I will provide the newest affidavits and updates to

Camden, NJ disbanding & restructuring its police department in 2013 was a big success. In 2017, the city — once considered one of the most dangerous in the US — saw its murder rate fall to the lowest level since 1987, in addition to decline in other crimes
Minneapolis isn’t the first city to disband its PD. “In 2013, the Camden Police Department was disbanded, reimagined, and born again as the Camden County Police Department, with fewer officers, lower pay—and a strategic shift toward “community policing.”
As someone *from Colorado,* she should know that everyone in Colorado votes entirely on paper ballots, not on Dominion voting machines — with the exception of a few voters w disabilities/accessibility issues who vote on ballot-marking devices, which still produce a paper ballot

@BrentGriffiths
& me:
uhh...under Erick's theory here, tens of thousands of absentee ballots from active-duty military service members in far-away parts of the world that arrive after Election Day shouldn't count
This is also just.....not how it works. An election looking close with only partial results or a candidate prematurely declaring victory doesn’t automatically mean the election goes to the courts, the canvass and certification process continues per every state’s specific laws
The words of John Lewis from the 1963 March on Washington still ring true today, decades later. We must stand up against injustice to propel our country forward.

@washingtonpost
reporting, Trump refused to sign the CARES Act if it included a bailout for the USPS: "We told them very clearly that the president was not going to sign the bill if [money for the Postal Service] was in it," an admin official said
Trump on the Post Office: "They don't have the money to do the mail in voting. Are they gonna do it even if they don't have the money?"
Trump says that without the Postal Service money that he's blocking, the election will be "greatest fraud in history."
Reminder that a big driver of the "red mirage"/"blue shift" being discussed in the Jan 6. hearing rn is a few key swing states – MI, PA, and WI — not allowing all election officials to *pre-process* (not even, count, just pre-process) mail ballots before election day in 2020
I think all the time about the floor staff who safeguarded the electoral college certificates — they almost definitely didn't think of themselves as election officials in that moment, but they really exemplified what it means to protect the chain of custody in elections
I am not a criminal lawyer. I am sure people are right that it's risky for him to testify. But our leaders abandoned this kid's community to lawless thug rioters, and he did something about it, and now a lawless thug prosecutor is trying to destroy his life.
Yes, there's an explanation for it: the Republican-controlled state legislatures in both states gave election officials little to no ability to process mail ballots after the polls open on Election Day. Therefore, those ballots were counted and reported later. Hope this helps!
NEW: Trump just filed:
— $63.1 million cash on hand.
— $1.4 million in debts.
We will be getting full figures for Biden later this evening but that # expected to be much larger, even after he outspent Trump on TV last month by a lot.
Wow—Elizabeth Warren just sent out a fundraising email lifting up her fellow female Senators Kamala Harris and Kirsten Gillibrand (both of whom have dropped out) and directly attacking billionaires Tom Steyer and Michael Bloomberg for trying to “buy this election”
While I can't independently confirm all of this, the details of this story are highly consistent with a message I got in late April from an anonymous email account with the address "creepyalexmorse
@protonmail
.com" trying to get me to write about vague, unspecified accusations
1) "universal, unmonitored vote-by-mail" doesn't exist anywhere — states that send ballots to every registered voter have security measures like ballot tracking, etc ( 2) Jenna Ellis voted by mail in Colorado in 2012, 2013, and 2014
If we can stand in line at a grocery store or hardware store, we can stand in line at the polls to vote.
President
@realDonaldTrump
is RIGHT that universal, unmonitored vote-by-mail would be a DISASTER, and we’re already seeing evidence of that across the country. ⬇️
@TeamTrump
Here's a fun Insider polling stat:
@AndrewYang
is locking down solid, loyal supporters at a much faster rate than any of the other Democratic candidates in the mid-tier of polling, including Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, and Pete Buttigieg
The 11,000 incorrectly filled out NC voter reg forms did NOT come from a government agency from Civitech, a completely separate third-party group. The misprinted ballots in LA county thankfully affected voters in just one precinct, and those voters’ ballots are being replaced
11,00 North Carolina residents get incorrect voter registration forms. 2000 LA County Voters received “faulty” Ballots, with NO WAY TO VOTE FOR PRESIDENT. Many others throughout USA. Here we go. This will be the most corrupt Election in American History!
All 50 Senate Republicans, as expected, have filibustered the Freedom to Vote Act. Was a 49-51 vote; (with Schumer changing his vote to no in order to be able to bring it up later)
anyway, now that one of the nation's top writers/commentators on election law is indisposed, I am available to appear on TV to talk about these issues 😂— I did not go to law school, have never practiced law, and most of my knowledge is from books, but I promise not to do...this
Melissa Lively, the woman who went viral for ripping masks off of a rack in Target in a rage last year, spoke to NBC about no longer being a COVID conspiracist and says she fell prey to the QAnon conspiracy: "Social media played an important role in what radicalized media"
Dr. Fauci is currently sparring with Sen. Rand Paul in this Senate HELP hearing over studies on reinfections (Paul claims, contrary to current CDC guidance, that he doesn't need to wear a mask bc he's already had COVID)
Another curious angle of the George Santos saga flagged by an eagle-eyed tipster: Santos didn't play volleyball at Baruch College. But who did? Pablo Oliveria aka Pablo Patrick, founder/CEO of Linkbridge Investors, where Santos listed being a VP starting in 2017 on his resumé
Wow:
@BetoORourke
just sent out a long email discussing how he's descended from people who owned slaves, writes, "I benefit from a system that my ancestors built to favor themselves at the expense of others. That only increases the urgency I feel to help change this country."
This is, of course, not true. The legislature has passed the bill but the Governor hasn’t signed it yet, countless Republicans have been elected in states with mostly/all-mail elections, and Trump could push for emergency bailout funds to help out the Post Office if he wanted to
In an illegal late night coup, Nevada’s clubhouse Governor made it impossible for Republicans to win the state. Post Office could never handle the Traffic of Mail-In Votes without preparation. Using Covid to steal the state. See you in Court!
so the entire election was rigged but the president, despite that, is solely responsible for reelecting 8 GOP Senators. makes sense, sounds about right 🤨
Don Jr. popping off at the rest of the mainstream Republican Party for not similarly pushing unsubstantiated and false claims of voter/election fraud🍿👀
The total lack of action from virtually all of the “2024 GOP hopefuls” is pretty amazing.
They have a perfect platform to show that they’re willing & able to fight but they will cower to the media mob instead.
Don’t worry
@realDonaldTrump
will fight & they can watch as usual!

NEW deep-dive from me: A look at 5 of the most common mistakes and errors that can get your mail ballot challenged or disqualified altogether and how to avoid them, according to election officials and experts. Thread:
Now-Republican state Rep. Tricia Cotham went from sharing her own abortion story in speaking out against NC's 72-hour waiting period bill in 2015 — as a Democrat — to switching parties and now voting for a bill that imposes a 12-week limit and doubles-down on the waiting period
In 2018, Taylor Swift wrote that "the systemic racism we still see in this country towards people of color is terrifying, sickening and prevalent." Now, in her strongest political statement yet, she's accused Trump of "stoking the fires of white supremacy"
Likewise, the House and Senate have agreed to focus strongly on the very substantial voter fraud which took place in the November 3 Presidential election.
Laws in every single US state give officials time after Election Day to fully canvass all the ballots (including late-arriving absentees and provisionals) and then certify the results. These timelines are set by state legislatures into state law and are not illegal or suspect
Full Trump quote:
"We'll see what happens at the end of the day [on Election Day]. Hopefully it won't go longer than that. Hopefully the few states remaining that want to take a lot of time after November 3rd to count ballots, that won't be allowed by the various courts."
This thread is proof that harmful election conspiracy theories are by no means limited to the right. Esp in a place like KY, people don't vote perfectly in line with their party registration, ticket-splitting is common, and there are voters who aren't registered w/ either party
Doesn't it seem odd that in Ballard County Kentucky the State Board of Elections shows 2285 registered REPUBLICAN voters as of Oct 2020 yet 3155 people voted for Mitch McConnell?
Ballard County also has 3966 registered Dems but Amy McGrath only got 936 votes?
And theres more...
