Alex Gordon was at the Chiefs-Texans game. Said Travis Kelce getting fired up on the sidelines reminded him of Mike Moustakas in the dugout during the comeback vs the Astros. Said the Chiefs remind him of the 2014-2015 Royals. “It’s kind of been looking into a mirror.”
Remembering the late Yordano Ventura on this January 22nd day. It’s been 7 years since his passing. What a blessing to spend so much time with a kid who had a personality as big as his 100+mph fastball. Will always miss Ace.
#RIP
First time Salvador Perez has dumped a Gatorade bucket all year. His only Salvy Splash was reserved for a goodbye to Ned Yost. Double bucket action with Alex Gordon handling the other. What an amazing and emotional end to the career of Ned Yost
If this is the end for Zack Greinke as a Royal or as a big leaguer, what a way to go out. A huge ovation for Zack and acknowledgement to the Royals fans from a man who has always shied away from the attention.
This is always a bittersweet day. An honor to finish my 14th season in KC. I have the best partner in Jeff Montgomery. We never have a bad day. This job is a privilege. It’s been a thrill to see all the new kids come up, to watch Salvy, Whit & everyone. Thank you Royals fans!
Nice answer from Salvador Perez on MLB Network this morning. He was asked about being the quarterback of the Royals.
@KMillar15
mentioned being Tom Brady and Salvy quickly corrected him. “Patrick Mahomes.”
Congrats to former
@Royals
Lorenzo Cain, Mike Moustakas, Erik Kratz, Jeremy Jeffress, Manny Pina and Joakim Soria on clinching a playoff berth with the
@Brewers
Danny Duffy beloved in KC for good reason. He’s real. He cares. The ultimate teammate. One of the few players still here who was in the organization when I got here in ‘08. Watched him grow up. Wish him the best. Maybe we will see him back. And of course “It’s a bear suit.”
Just got off the phone w/Mike Moustakas. Moose is one of the leaders of the Reds. Eric Hosmer a leader of the Padres. They come from the Alex Gordon family tree. Moose: “He taught me about life and how to be a great father and role model. He always did things the right way.”
No trade-in or negotiating for Salvy’s 48th home run ball. A Royals staffer got to it after it landed in a restricted area in front of the batter’s eye. The ball will be authenticated and end up in the hands of its proper owner, Salvador Perez
Royals are up 4-3 after trailing 3-0. Salvador Perez has scored 3 of their 4 runs with a walk, double and his MLB leading 47th home run. Worthy of a curtain call
It’s rare to actually sit down for a family meal when you have teenagers. As my wife, kids and I ate dinner together tonight we shared what we were thankful for. Family, health & everything you would hope for was discussed. And....my 17-year old’s reply: “
@PatrickMahomes
.”
Most games played of anyone in MLB since 2011 and 8th all-time most games played in Royals history. Thanks to Alcides Escobar for always saying yes to interview requests and for being a pleasure to work w/ the last 8 years. Good luck in Baltimore Esky
Congrats to the World Champion Braves, especially former Royals Jorge Soler, Will Smith, Jesse Chavez and Terrance Gore. Excited for all of these good dudes and super happy for hitting coach Kevin Seitzer.
I first started covering this “kid” when he was 24 years old. I’ve been at this TV thing for a quarter century & there’s not an athlete I’ve spent more time with than Alex Gordon. Happy 36th birthday to the Kansas City Royals veteran leader.
Congrats to
@TheRealHos35
on the new deal w/SD. I can say with certainty that Hos is as good of a star, leader and person as I’ve worked with in my nearly 25 years of broadcasting. Nothing but great memories and best wishes to a truly genuine guy.
Salvador Perez reiterated to me today that there’s no team he wants to play for other than the Royals for the rest of his career. “I want to be here. I love this city. I love the fans. It feels like a family here.”
This was one of the most meaningful and emotional interviews in my 12 seasons here. What an honor to be a small part of Ned Yost’s final game as Royals manager
Eric Hosmer is one of the best leaders and people I’ve covered in my 16 seasons with the
@Royals
. Loved working with
@TheRealHos305
for seven seasons, and proud to call him a friend. Congrats on your retirement
@TheRealHos305
Whit Merrifield, playing in his 162nd game of the year, has just been pulled and received a huge ovation. He will be the first right handed hitter to lead MLB in hits in back to back seasons since Kirby Puckett.
It’s official. Bitter sweet. Alex Gordon tops my list of favorite people in my 13 seasons in KC. So happy for Alex and Jamie but will miss an amazing competitor and person. Congrats to Alex Gordon, one of the greatest to ever wear a Royals uniform
Spent the day chatting about Alex Gordon via text, phone & Zoom with Ned Yost, Eric Hosmer, Luke Hochevar, Jeff Francoeur, Kevin Seitzer, Jarrod Dyson, Lorenzo Cain and a K-6 PE teacher up in Idaho in between classes named Billy Butler who said, “Tell Alex I love him.”
Mike Moustakas batting third behind 2-hole hitter Lorenzo Cain tonight. Good luck to Moose. Been an absolute pleasure covering him and watching him grow up over the the last eight seasons.
Just received this from Ned Yost on Gordon:
“Alex’s commitment to his teammates through his dedication and work ethic plus the way he played the game with everything he had every single day was unlike anything I’ve ever seen!! He was the perfect teammate!!Congratulations Alex!!”

win 13-3, sweeping the Astros and completing a perfect 7-0 home stand. Bobby Witt Jr 4-5, 4R, 4RBI 2HR SB. Vinnie Pasquantino 3 more RBI. Bobby, Vinnie & Maikel Garcia each had two hits in the first, when the Royals scored 9 runs on 11 hits. At the Mets tomorrow
Mike Moustakas has agreed to a one-year deal with a mutual second-year option with the Kansas City Royals, sources with knowledge of the deal tell Yahoo Sports. It guarantees him $6.5 million and can max out at $22.7 million.
This is an emotional day for Royals fans, as it should be. The most regular comments I get on Twitter are after losses from a vocal minority who disappear during winning streaks. I’m not surprised most Royals fans are expressing their love for Danny Duffy. It’s heartwarming IMO
Six years to the day. I will forever remember waking up on a Sunday morning and reading word on Twitter that I prayed would be a mistake. The smile, unique voice and sense of humor will stay with me forever. Thinking of the late Yordano Ventura today.

Trailing 2-1 with two outs in the 8th, Salvador Perez announced he’s back and healthy. 431 feet. Now homered in three of his last four games. Royals lead 3-2.
Crowd chanting “Bobby, Bobby,” as Bobby Witt Jr comes to the plate in the 8th with a runner on second, tied at 1 and Bobby has first big league hit. A go ahead RBI single
We know our partner Rex Hudler can get a bit distracted but he’s done a nice job calling Royals-Sox in Chicago from the booth at Kauffman…..while his son Will played in the Ban Johnson all-star game at the K simultaneously. The tears came after Will was named MVP. So beautiful!
That’s it. Royals win the finale 5-2, taking the series from the Yankees. Zack Greinke career win number 225. Bobby Witt Jr the first player in MLB history with 30HR 49SB and 11 triples. Final postgame show coming up
Salvy, Mike Sweeney and countless
#Royals
fans send their birthday wishes (and impressions) to
@RexHudler1
who turns 60 years young today.

Vinnie Pasquantino’s 1st hit is a single off the wall. Thrown out at 2nd but it’s ruled to have gone over the wall. Home run!!! Vinnie’s 1st MLB hit is a home run
Watching these World War II vets shaking hands and receiving ovations at the K on the 75th anniversary of D-Day just warms the heart. Need to cherish every moment with those from The Greatest Generation.
Michael Massey grew up in the Chicago suburb of Palos Park. He used to ask his dad on Saturday mornings to come to Sox games as a kid. They would make the 20 min drive & buy $7 tickets. Today he starts at 2nd against his childhood team. Has anywhere from 40-70 people coming today
Terrance Gore scores the tying run for the Cubs. Wade Davis comes in to escape the jam with a strikeout caught by catcher Drew Butera. Fun stuff and a great game
Salvador Perez has now homered in all 3 games on this home stand. He’s 3 from tying Jorge Soler’s single season franchise record. He’s tied with Vlad Guerrero Jr for the MLB lead. It’s only the first inning
Another season in the books. Thank you Royals fans for your continued support. It’s been an honor, privilege and dream job to do this the last 12 seasons, including the last 10 with Jeff Montgomery, truly the easiest guy in the world to work with every day. See you all soon
Jarrod Dyson may have just had the at bat of the year for the Royals. Bases loaded, two outs, foul ball after foul ball and on the 11th pitch of the AB, Dyson smacks a 2-RBI double. 4-2 Royals.
Salvador Perez joined the team in Boston and threw from 45 feet for the first time and caught a bullpen (not throwing back). This was his first time wearing catcher’s gear since surgery. Salvy said it felt like his first day in the big leagues.
