When the abortion issue comes up, even pro-choice people start to rely on the tragic cases (rape, medical issues, poverty) to defend it. But in reality, a fetus is a female body part until it’s born. Women can do what they want with their own body for any reason. That’s it.
I get why we use the other examples— it feels like we need to appeal to some sense of empathy in the other side. But I don’t care about their empathy. I want to vomit on their feeling entitled to power and decisions over a woman. Because it goes much deeper than abortion.
@girlwithatail
This position is fundamentally incompatible with the pro life view. They do not agree and if this can ever get resolved if won't be on this.
It will be on privacy and healthcare grounds. Banning abortion bans real healthcare options for women
@Lilonion7
You’re not getting it. And this will be my last reply to you, I’m not here to argue with a man about whether my plea for civil rights is compatible enough. The issue is: it should never have *been* an issue decided by anyone else, particularly any male.
I’d also add that the right likely banks on this argument so that they can appear to compromise when it comes to medically necessary situations. No one should be “allowing” or “not allowing” abortions. If you can allow, you have control.
@girlwithatail
A fetus is a human being in the earliest stage of the human life cycle. I find your argument to be disingenuous with the point being to devalue the life of an unborn child.
@girlwithatail
That’s not true. If the baby needs medical intervention in the womb, he/she is a separate patient from the mother.
Plus, babies exhibit unique personalities and preferences in the womb. They are individuals, no matter how dependent on their mothers.
@girlwithatail
ONE THOUSAND PERCENT. A fetus cannot live on its own until the very end of pregnancy. When most pregnancies occur, it is not even recognizable as a human. It is part of OUR BODY.
@girlwithatail
Kids need parents who can give their all. No person should be forced to have a kid when they don’t want to/aren’t able to do that. Kids are people. Not objects, like I think others forget.
@girlwithatail
Its not so much a reliance, its that the other side has proved that they just don't care that its a woman's choice and none of their business.
