The affordable housing crisis in our country is out of control, including here in NYC.
@RepYvetteClarke
and I are working hard to pass our Affordable Housing and Area Median Income Fairness Act to help make housing more affordable for American families who need it most.
With affordable housing growing more scarce in the Big Apple, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-New York) is the latest elected official to take on the affordable housing shortage as a way to help alleviate the financial burdens many New Yorkers face.
Lewis Dodley - a NY1 staple since our channel's first day - announced that he is leaving the anchor desk after more than 30 years.
"NY1 is a window to New York City, and to be a face you see here has truly been an honor."
Survivors of human trafficking are often haunted by unjust criminal charges they received while they were being trafficked. I'm working to change that.
The Trafficking Survivors Relief Act would provide survivors a second chance so they can focus on rebuilding their lives.
For far too many hard-working NYers, affordable housing is unattainable.
@RepYvetteClarke
and I are working to change that.
Today we announced our Affordable Housing and Area Median Income Fairness Act, legislation that would help combat the affordable housing crisis in NYC.
On Holocaust Remembrance Day, we remember the 6 million Jewish people murdered during the Holocaust.
We must always stay diligent in our fight against antisemitism, hateful threats and violence.
I'm proud that the 2024 Farm Bill framework includes many provisions I fought hard for, such as:
—Expanding and enhancing access to SNAP
—Increased funding for food banks
—More resources for rural jobs and infrastructure
—Supporting dairy farmers
—Mental health help for farmers
This year's Farm Bill framework will do so much in the fight against hunger.
🥕We'll expand and enhance access to SNAP, especially for former foster kids, military families, and Puerto Ricans.
🛒We'll invest millions to end food deserts.
🍎We'll increase funding for food banks.
I'm extremely proud that this year's Farm Bill framework includes my Puerto Rico Nutrition Assistance Fairness Act, which will finally allow Puerto Ricans full access to SNAP.
It's long past time for Puerto Ricans to be treated equally — especially in the fight against hunger.
Far too many communities have been ravaged by the fentanyl crisis. But help is finally on the way.
Thanks to the
#FENDOffFentanyl
law, law enforcement will be able to crack down on fentanyl traffickers and help prevent needless overdose deaths.
Women make up more than half the population — but too often our health concerns are understudied, underfunded, and underappreciated.
That's why I'm proud to join
@halleberry
in the fight for better research, awareness, and treatment for menopause.
SOON: I'm about to join
@HalleBerry
& Senate women to discuss our new bipartisan legislation to expand menopause research, education, and awareness—it's time for the federal government to stop ignoring menopause.

I'm honored to represent such a diverse state with flourishing Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities that contribute so much to our history and culture. This
#AANHPIHeritageMonth
, we celebrate their history and incredible contributions to New York!
I'm grateful that the DEA is moving to reclassify marijuana as a less dangerous drug, a move I've been pushing for years.
But our work doesn't stop here. Marijuana must be completely descheduled and legalized.
