Hey
@nrl
. Serious
@NZWarriors
fans don’t think officials are cheating. However, subconscious bias is a well documented phenomenon, and we have sure had a bad run. Bigger picture, you have failed to repay our Covid sacrifice. Subconsciously, that says to me you don’t respect us.
The
@NZWarriors
making the top 4 (after 15th last year and being gutted by Covid) is arguably the best achievement in the nrl in a decade
No matter what happens from here, we are set up well for 2024 and beyond
Take time to enjoy that today, we can think about finals later 🍻
This loss is the end of a good story. The turnaround is remarkable and I now have confidence in management. Our Cup team showed that the future is bright. Personally, this team and the community has thrown so much positive energy that at times I needed. The best is yet to come.
There is some hope Wayde Egan can play next week after initial assessments suggested “just” some cracked teeth after this tackle. Nasty contact with plenty of force, lucky to not suffer facial fracture. Thankfully it is rare for players to miss time with dental injuries.
The reason this is big isn’t because he will play first grade. It’s because a top Aussie prospect with impeccable pedigree has looked at our new development systems and said - yep, I’m moving to NZ.
We need shoot for a the comp next year while we have SJ and Tohu. The off season needs to be about what adjustments will do that. I think we have the pieces to give it a fair shot.
6 : 5 after 12 rounds is crazy good given where we started. Webby has us fit, happy and playing to our strengths. At full strength and with a bit more growth we can trouble anyone. Health and luck will decide where we land; but it’s game on from here. Buckle up.
We took a step up tonight. Absorbed the emotion, possession and penalties in the first half, and then broke them down through the middle and the edges. We still lack some cohesion in good ball attack, but we are good and growing. Lookout.

Wife: I’ve packed the lunches, if you get the boys dressed I’ll quickly pack up and do early drop off before you need the car, does that work?
Me: look the NZherald said Up The Wahs on the front page
The biggest shock for me yesterday was Paully Roache’s performance. On what I’d seen in Cup I just didn’t think he’d stand up to long minutes at 9 in FG. He was awesome (37 tackles) and proved me wrong. However, doing it week in/out is another step altogether.
I’m in Fiji right now. Days 1-3, cool vibes, normal. Days 4-5, getting free drinks, tips for good fishing spots, great chats with locals. The difference - days 4-5 was wearing my Warriors jersey. So much goodwill towards NZ and the Warriors here
Really important win. Webby went defensive/conservative in his selections and it paid off. Tough run of games coming up, but we have points in the bank. 🍺🍾
Me: boys for the next 4 hours I’ll be watching the warriors so you can’t watch kids tv, either watch footy with me or go play outside
Kids: but there’s nothing to do outside we want our shows that’s not fair
Outside currently:
Merry Christmas Warriorstwit! People say twitter is a sewer, but I can honestly say that our little corner is good vibes and great people. Thanks for all the chat and banter in 2022 - hope you all have a great break, and come back ready to roll in 2023.

So, here we are. Webby fixed our culture, attitude and D, and has us scoring points with beautiful shape. The last question is whether we know how to beat a big pack on a wet track. If the answer is yes we have nothing left to fear (other than injury). We find out tonight.
In a way, I’m glad we lost that. The club needs a total rebuild, and papering over that with a few wins at home wouldn’t have helped. It’s easy to blame Covid, but I hope management know they’ve made some bad calls in the last 2.5 years, even if they don’t say it. Bring on 2023
The reason Shaun didn’t win the Dally M is because we had so many strong performers in our club that took points off him. Dally M is as much a measure of your performance relative to your team mates as it is a measure against the opposition.
Better performance tonight vs last two weeks. Great to see Metcalf get the left edge humming, and we had good middle shape as usual. That win steadies the ship before we start the sprint home. Hopefully no major injuries coming out of it 🙏
Why I’m down on the warriors rn:
1. Game model. We offer a low complexity, low power/yardage model. Defensive system dysfunctional.
2. Selections. Rookie OBs that were never going to be ready.
3. Cohesion. Turning over roster mid season (again).
4. Comms. We aren’t stupid guys.
We lost this game because we only had 4 middles. We only had 4 middles because we have 5 middles out injured and no others that are first grade ready. Once our starters got fatigue and saints brought on 3 fresh middles the game was over. Simple as that.
Game day! I’m not usually all that big on merch, but my cousin married into an awesome Northland family, and out of nowhere her in-laws sent me this original 95’ scarf from their personal collection to wear today. Great people, great community.
Game day 👍 While we’re all starting to believe, nothing triggers ‘Warriors PTSD’ like the Anzac game. With injuries to key men, a win is a big ask today vs a strong Storm in Melbourne. You can bet that’s not how Webby’s talking though, and belief can take you pretty far..
"The Warriors sacrificed a lot living away from home for 3 years, and this is just a small way of showing our appreciation to the club" - Isaiah

Getting a few deep here but…Josh Curran. Aussie. Grew up 10km from me. Has committed to the club long term. Rides every fucking tackle. Don’t tell me it can’t be built, and built quickly.
Cronulla showed last night why putting a score on the Dragons doesn’t make you a top 4 team. Top teams play with intensity, control and thoughtful shape. I think we’ll see that from the Warriors tonight. Could be a season defining game. Can’t fecking wait
Warriors current half recruitment policy:
1. Must be breathing.
2. Must have played half at pro or semi-pro level in last 12 months.
2. Must not be Shaun Johnson.
So now that the warm up game is done and I’ve had a chance to reflect on the game tonight, my thoughts are that a Melbourne are a pack of weak gutted dogs
Every Warriors fan should buy Robbo a beer for making this happen.

Sunday arvo in Sydney. Feels like 35 degrees in the shade. Got people over. The Warriors game has been on repeat in the background for nearly 3 hours now. Stretching some friendships.
We conceded two tries; we lost this game because we couldn’t score three (or any). Those blaming the ref are kidding themselves. We just aren’t good enough with 3/5 spine players out. Hopefully we can jag a win v dogs and then get players back.
Errors by the back 5 hurt, but the harsh truth is Penrith were rolling through our best 3 middles from the second set of the game. With no middles on the bench other than Jazz we had to get on top early and just didn’t.
Penrith too good. Plenty of banter this week, but truth is they do footy better than anyone - tough wall of middles, plenty of strike, and home grown boys with strong connection. They’re the benchmark we want to get to.
@SnoogThe
Put away the pitchforks people, there is some sanity in head office after all. We’re all gonna be running at 2022 off the back fence 🤜

I give it to the club when they deserve it, but I also give credit where it’s due - well done on the development of Ed Kosi in tough circumstances. More please.
Did my rewatch. A few thoughts:
- Lussick picked so Sirro could play Walkers role. Didn’t work.
- asking Tohu to be lead prop in 2nd rotation after spending 20+ mins playing 13 is too much
- afb was struggling with the speed of that game
- back 3 ran harder than our middles
Lawns done. Gonna bbq some lamb, have a beer, then see if the boys can’t pull a bream out of the harbour before we head up to Leichardt oval. Bloody good Sunday.
Any Warriors fans heading to the game tonight - make sure you give Ben Hunt a mad cheer when he runs out or touches the ball. I’m hearing the Saints fans will be booing him, so he could use some friendly support.
So while everyone is giving me handshakes for getting one right, I want to call out (again) one I got wrong - Robbo. I was critical of him before and during Covid, but the investment in the club since we got back home has been strategic, smart and targeted. Best owner we’ve had.
Hey WarriorsTwit, just wanted to wish you all a great Christmas and a good break over the new year. We have a really positive corner of twitter going, and I’ve enjoyed being a part of it this year. See you all next year, ready to rock n roll.

Our club moving on from Brownie and getting Webby last year was like falling face first in the mud during a thunderstorm and then getting hit on the arse by a rainbow
Egan - ‘ok I’m
#6
, I’m just gonna run outside lines and draw and pass at the line.’ Rest of team- ‘whoa man slow down, say again? You’re doing what now?’
Right, so an overnight chat with the club and the position totally changes
I’m pretty sure it wasn’t the club that decided to play this out in the media
Some shitfuckery going on here and I doubt it’s over
The tiers must be scrapped so dual eligible Kiwis can play Origin. Otherwise, the Kiwis are structurally disadvantaged against other nations. This isn’t complicated. Make it happen
@nrl
EXCLUSIVE: Huge boost for State of Origin with Samoa and Tonga to be denied tier-one status.
NRL stars such as Jarome Luai, Brian To’o, Josh Papalii and Tino Fa’asuamaleaui are not in danger of being banned from State of Origin.

I’m no apologist for management, but last year the joint reeked of blokes who didn’t want to be there. I think we made the right call despite his talent.
Sign him up. He’s a believer, and that’s worth more than any professional
NRL 2022: NZ-born Jesse Arthars thriving in NZ Warriors culture, coy on permanent move
If the AFB incident has taught us anything, it’s that the club will be stronger with more home grown players. Props again to Robbo and Georgie for seeing that and putting the blocks in place.
We’re still off the pace, but hopefully that second half was us turning the corner. A better win than the last two and there’s enough time to click back into gear.
Please
@jacindaardern
, help us here. League people aren’t rich queue jumpers, but our team has been away for two years. There is a way to do this safely at no cost to taxpayers. Make an exception for some young kiwis who have helped a whanau of thousands through some tough times.
This seems like a disproportionately long ban when compared to other recent contrary conduct charges, although they can be hard to compare. Can’t help but feel that it’s easier to make an example of a Warriors player than a Storm or Roosters player
