How many π digits do we need? 3.1415 ➡️ design the finest engines 3.1415926535 ➡️ obtain the circumference of the Earth within a fraction of an inch 3.1415926535897932384626433832795028842 ➡️ measure the radius of the universe to an accuracy equal to the size of a hydrogen atom

@fermatslibrary Damn, didn't know we know the radius of the universe with that kind of accuracy...

@fermatslibrary Why not simply use 22/7?

@fermatslibrary They say "never do anything for free if you're good at it", but... I'm feeling charitable today and will solve this shared crisis, gratis. The answer my friends.. is to go full Sicilian.

@fermatslibrary My favorite number! Memorized pi for math club fundraiser twice … back in the day. Memorized 1015 digits and 1515 digits. Can still do 100 digits now. Yeah, my kids call me a nerd. 😂

@fermatslibrary All the digits. Omit one digit, and the whole structure falls.

@fermatslibrary Pi is romantic because it's never ending nor repeating like true love. It measures the circumference of a circle. A wedding ring is a circle which signifies love has no beginning nor ending and true love never repeats. It's beauty is in its ♾️. FYI...born 3/14.

@fermatslibrary Nerds should be employed to recite the digits from memory whenever an engineer needs it for a project.

@fermatslibrary How do you know it is round? I think the universe is probably pentagram shaped.

@fermatslibrary Should go all the way to Planck lengths, the smallest possible. "A hydrogen atom is about 10 trillion trillion Planck lengths across." -- Google

@fermatslibrary I know by heart: π = 3.1415927 That's more than enough for most cases.

@fermatslibrary "Finest" engine designs use 3.1415 (when the numeral that follows is a "9")? What is the rationale for not using 3.1416, since that surely seems like a better approximation?
