The coolest neighborhood in DC is Mount Pleasant. Good bars. Good food. Walkable. Feels like a neighborhood. Not in Columbia Heights but next to it. Parkview and Le Droit Park also up there. Those neighborhoods off of Columbia Heights are the best/coolest imo.

My No. 1 question coming out of that press conference: The continued use of Capital One Arena. Leonsis has long said he has a terrible lease there, and he does. He pays a lot more than other NBA/NHL owners. Why would you keep doing that to have the Mystics and Hoyas play there?

Also went to Hedzole (pronounced hey-joe-lay) this weekend. A very interesting concept that lets you build bowls based on the West African cuisine and the diaspora. Salmon with jollof rice and shito sauce was my favorite. Heard the oxtails were dope as well.

NEW: Metro says it could shut down 10 low ridership stations as part of a plan to close a massive budget gap. One of those low ridership stations - Potomac Yard. The station averaged just 2,911 riders/week in Sept. Assuming it would reopen for NBA/NHL though #wmata @nbcwashington

Every time I go to Yellow - I walk out just incredibly impressed on how well it is executed. A lot of similar cafe style takes on higher end restaurants in DC this year but this is the best execution of that idea we have in DC.

Loved this Fried Catfish with Spaghetti from Almeda in Petworth A fun chef'd up version of a church function meal featuring the crunchiest catfish I have had in a long time. Hot sauce goes great with both the fish and spaghetti 🤌✨ Learn eating food and learning something new.

Went to Lutèce last week. Definitely DC’s most NYC style restaurant with the size of the restaurant and the funky punk rock x french food vibes. Gnocchi like pillows of heaven. Sweetbreads and figs 🤌🤌🤌 Finally someone actually executed correctly on a charred cabbage dish

(Not) Pizza at Yellow is dope. Clam pie is an absolute show stopper. The chermoula cream tastes like shrimp head fat and the soujek is crisp and fatty. Also they put their Kefta on the burnt eggplant (not) pizza, we need more lamb on (not) pizza.

A lot of French bistro style restaurants in DC, thought Ellington Park Bistro stood out though. Everything was well cooked. The staff also seemed like they cared about the restaurant and experience. Great fries. One of the better new restaurants I’ve been to in DC this year.

The 40 layer lasagna at L'Ardente sounded a bit gimmicky to me (not sure you need 40 layers) all that said, it was absolutely delicious. Service was very nice. Restaurant has a good atmosphere. I was really impressed. One of the better new restaurants in DC this year for sure.

St. Vincent Wine remains an underrated spot for food in DC. Might honestly be my favorite spot to get pasta in DC. Great wine selections and a super friendly staff that will happily help you make a selection. Walked into a (surprise to me) Jazz night. Great date night spot.

I do think the best burger I’ve had this year was from Landmade Brewing which is a small trip out of DC. They take their smashing seriously. Fun place to grab a brew and hang out for the afternoon also. It’s a big farm so lots of room for everyone to roam around.

DC sandwich prices are steep though. Hard to find any of the prominent sandwich spots with many sandwiches under the $14 range these days. A. Litteri has the best prices I could find. Jetties is the only one I could with multiple locations with sandos in the $12 range.
