I made $1200 every 11 weeks in my first job in athletics. My first full time job was $32,000 a year. Harbaugh can wipe out my entirety of my debt with 5% of his monthly check of $1.04 million (pre-tax).

Photoshoots add to a cycle of meaningless work that is tasked upon internal creatives (that are already underpaid/overworked) who already have so much to do that means something (even marginally). Why am I taking photos of a 2027 recruit? Why was this scheduled hours before?

Working with some people, particularly who had some power, was miserable. Creatives were berated nearly everyday. There was always an issue. Working for football, I was staffed in football, but my position was in athletics. Being pulled in two opposing directions was exhausting.

I was depressed, miserable, angry. I felt like nothing I did was ever right. I was binge eating & gaining weight. Life sucked. I didn’t want to work in sports anymore. I was overworked, underpaid; 1 person to run an SEC creative video + recruiting was an enormous ask.

4 people quit in a span of 3 months. I was one of them. All 3 creatives for football were gone. It’s not entirely their fault, but it’s the reality of the situation. The foundation was crumbling. My mental health had never been worse than when I was at Mizzou.

A comment about my dyslexia was made: “how about you get me a tiger wings video that doesn’t have a misspelled name in it” when they were fully aware of it. I worked on those videos from 8 AM to 11 PM each night. Mistakes happen.

For everyone seemingly not hearing notifications or seeing messages on your iPhone, go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode > then turn off Attention Awareness Features. Apple added this recently and it reduces noise of some things because it thinks you’re looking at your phone.
