Let’s be clear: what we saw in Huwara this week was exceptional in scale, not in essence. Army-backed settler terrorism is *inherent* to a regime that is still in the throes of its colonial project. That is why the pogroms won’t end until someone forces them to end.
Another Pogrom -📍Burin, today.
Jewish settlers & Israeli army attack homes on east side of Burin.
The settlers are numerous & use vehicles. The soldiers aid & protect the settlers. they shoot tear gas at Palestinians homes, suffocating residents.

Is it true the army has no authority over the settlers? That they *can't* stop them even if they wanted to? If so, that's an insidious element of the apartheid dual track.
@edokonrad
What would the regime have to do to be 'no longer be considered 'in the throes of its colonial project'? i.e. obviously more than stop attacks like this and one that would be accepted as decoupling from a 'colonial project'.

The reason why the left is weak is precisely this maximalist framing. In order to join you I need to discard Zionism altogether. Thus I will not join you, even though my conscience has been shocked by Huwara.
