If I took up everyone's offers to provide me with delicious idlis - from all corners of India & beyond - I wouldn't have to cook or buy food for a year! It's confirmation that Indian people's passion for food is matched by their generosity. 🙏

My dumb idli tweet has led to media coverage across India & beyond (BBC, CNN!), TV reports, a radio interview & lots of fun - and more heated - debate. Best of all may be this cartoon of @ShashiTharoor & me in today's Manorama, one of the world's biggest circulation newspapers!

@tanvi_madan Haha. Well it would be rather ungracious of me to insult people's hospitality! And everyone is assuring me that my opinion of idlis is only because I haven't yet tried the right ones, so I've got to maintain an open mind, surely?!

@edanderson101 You definately need to go to more South Indian restaurants who get creative with the idly, the powder mix and sauces. From coconut , tomato, almonds there are so many varieties ..

@edanderson101 As Tharoorji rightly told it is the fermentation that make idli tasty .True in South India it is simply revered like anything.

@edanderson101 Passion for food is correct! This has been fun entertainment (for us at any rate). And now I too must give opinion (no one asked) - love idlis (fluffy, homemade stuff) but will defend anyone’s right to not like them.

@edanderson101 Just because we Indian people took your comment in negative light, and not as your personal preference in taste, doesn't make your comment dumb. You are perfectly entitled to your opinion. More power there! :)
