Currently thinking of Kala Ghoda ('Black Horse') in Mumbai. This was a statue of Edward VII, then Prince of Wales, mounted on a horse. In 1965 it was removed & relocated to the city's zoo. Then, in 2017, a near replica of the horse was restored to the original site... sans rider!

@bombaywallah Yes, I've seen it at Byculla Zoo, along with the small graveyard of other sorry looking Britisher statues next to the Bhau Daji Lad Museum!

@VinithaShetty Ridiculously, during his tour of 1874-5 (which was commemorated in the original 1879 kala ghoda statue), the Prince of Wales did bring three horses over with him by ship!! (Sorry to spoil a good joke by being a pedantic historian!)

@stephenjennis @UnamPillai Good question. I imagine loads of the communist ones are copies. The bust of Yuri Gagarin at Gorky Bhavan (the Russian Cultural Centre) in Trivandrum seems identical to many others around the world!
