I’ll be staring at an obscure tweet for ages trying to discern its meaning and then realise I’m catching stray tweets from deep in the rwrb fanfic community
sick of people moaning about open casting calls as if they are taking opportunities away from them specifically. there is always only one actor for the role and i hate to break it to you rupert from cheltenham but i’m not sure des hamilton’s latest top boy call out is for you
drama school is a privilege. evening drama classes are a privilege. choosing to follow your dreams rather than finding work to pay the bills is a privilege.
the sooner we recognise this and drop this ‘job stealing’ narrative the better. you lot are giving us a bad name
i don’t know how anyone can have an issue with increasing accessibility in this industry when there are already so many barriers in place. our industry is dominated by the privately educated elite and somehow increasing opportunities for working class actors is a bad thing?
Had a lovely chat with
@FilmUpdates
about Mary & George, Everything Now and my upcoming short ANON.
We’re almost at our fundraising goal. If you can help get us there, the link is in my bio!
Dylan Brady tells us about working with Nicholas Galitzine and Tony Curran on ‘MARY & GEORGE,’ writing for ‘EVERYTHING NOW,’ being mentored by Andrew Haigh, gearing up to shoot his first short and much more.

earned noms for Best Drama and Best Actress (Emma D’Arcy) but there was nothing for breakout stars like Paddy Considine, Matt Smith and Milly Alcock
i just want to know which casting directors are facilitating naked auditions and why?? which agents are sending their clients to such meetings? why aren’t showrunners and production companies creating safe working environments? and WHY was he given a BAFTA just 20 days ago???
we UK writers are in hell. just today i received a contract for a project i was commissioned to work on two years ago. i was drafting up until january 2023. i am yet to receive any money
I think getting anything made on a micro-budget is admirable, but stories like this just serve as a reminder that the UK indie filmmaking industry is only really built for one kind of person: wealthy folk who can afford to work for very little, if not for free
Christopher Nolan made his first feature film for £6,000. Now look at him. The UK indie film scene needs more support, but at the same time filmmakers need to be realistic. Don't write your movie with a million pounds in mind. Work with people you know who are just as passionate.
We hit our target. Thank you so much to everybody who has endured my endless pleas for cash, who has shared and donated and donated again. Every contribution has made this possible.
Now excuse me while I go make a film x
I’m raising funds for my first short film! A lot of love has been poured into this project over the last year. Please share far and wide, please donate if you are able to. All contributions are greatly appreciated x
this frustration at open calls has the same energy as old british men complaining about foreigners ‘taking our jobs’ as if they are yours for the taking
Breaking my silence as a lover of the prepackaged sandwich. It is one of the most comforting joys on this island of misery. Meal deals they could never make me hate you
In a volatile TV landscape where countless brilliant shows are being prematurely cancelled, I can’t understand how or why this show is still hanging on for dear life
Production on ‘EUPHORIA’ season 3 has been delayed indefinitely as Sam Levinson has yet to finish the scripts.
The actors have been given permission to take other acting jobs in the meantime.

i completely understand the frustration that actors are somehow left out of the search when CD’s want to find ‘real people’ but 9 times out of 10 there’s a reason - that reason being that you are not right for the part
Very grateful to have been nominated for Best Breakthrough Talent! And lovely to see another 3 nominations for Ralph & Katie. This was a dreamy job with an even dreamier team ♥️
Can’t wait for the world to meet this wonderful cast. Born from the brilliant mind of Ripley Parker, EVERYTHING NOW arrives on Netflix 5th October. Episode 6 written by me, somehow.
i talked about the diplomat and writing my first episode of tv and it seems, in translation, i’ve created an entire show and i’m already cooking up a second season. did my mum write this?
EXCLUSIVE: The BFI and BAFTA have set the 2023 cohort of the BFI Flare x BAFTA mentoring scheme, which provides National Lottery funding and mentoring to six LGBTQIA+ filmmakers working towards their debuts in film and television

Can we please expel this myth that people of colour are destined to do well in this industry based on their skin colour alone? Any success of mine is down to passion, commitment, hard work and talent and I will endeavour to silence anyone who tries to say otherwise.
this industry is simply not built for people without money. the assumption is that you have generational wealth to support you while production companies take months, sometimes years, to pay your invoices. and those of us without that privilege are expected to somehow manage
i spent the last month or so speaking to almost everyone involved with russell t. davies' QUEER AS FOLK — in which charlie hunnam is famously rimmed in the first episode — for its 25th anniversary:
Newly added donations to the

-A personally curated Google map of Ayo Edebiri’s favourite restaurants and a Zoom call to rave about them.
- A tea spilling session over Zoom with director Emma Seligman, plus a prop used in ‘Shiva Baby’.

Decided to revisit Normal People, suspicious that my memory of it might be warped by the touch-starved fever dream of lockdown. But it’s 2024 and I’m 8 eps in and every eyelash flutter has got me holding my breath and curling my toes. Pure yearning and heartbreak. A masterpiece
Ed bumps into his old workmate Danny, who reveals that since they last spoke, he's come out.
But when James walks in, will he recognise him?
Find out tonight at 7.30pm & 8.30pm.

💕 feeling lucky to have worked on such a special project with the most gorgeous team in the world x
not a first experience but i was once told by a peer at drama school that i could attribute any success in my career to being brown.
because the idea of a black person actually being talented enough to merit success beyond tokenism is ludicrous.
£3.5k raised! 🥳
Thank you to everybody who has donated so far to help bring ANON to life.
We’ve worked so hard on this project and we’re inching closer to our goal. Please give us share and chuck in a few quid if you can!
