Motor dealerships should not be allowed to operate without a safe space to load/unload their deliveries

@driverbod125 They have one, on the road. Loading appears to be allowed there.

@driverbod125 I suspect they have one. This is just more convenient.

@driverbod125 We have one that unloads on a dual carriageway. Nope not even joking.

@driverbod125 See also: van hire places that are nowhere near public transport and have no parking onsite.

@driverbod125 If only they were unloading something that was wheeled and could be moved a short distance under its own power. Then they could unload in a safe place, even if it was a short distance away.

@driverbod125 They are unloading cars that are driven under their own power. There is no overriding justification for blocking the pavement - and HGVs are not allowed on a pavement without police permission anyway. They park somewhere safe and transfer the cars from there.

@driverbod125 Doubt the foundations of that footway were designed for the load of that lorry Donโ€™t waste your time reporting on X; get onto your local highways authority/ planning department

@driverbod125 I wouldn't be surprised if the industry standard is to put in an unloading bay for the planning consent and then fill it with 10 cars when built. Does anyone enforce planning conditions years later? Do they f.

@driverbod125 Coop should not open food stores without a planned, safe, off-road space to unload deliveries.

@driverbod125 I bet there is space provided in the dealership forecourt, which has been filled with cars. Puts the delivery driver in a difficult position. He should be on the road in my view, ideally a side road, but limited risk of enforcement so he took the easy option.

@driverbod125 The UK roads are an area that were never designed for any specific purpose - certainly not large vehicles - everything is a compromise - cycle lanes especially - wide loads often need escorting - so everything is about a level of acceptance & understanding.
