This is a new, and pretty cool, thing on gWr “Castle Class” HSTs - barcode on the back of the seat which loads a website of the live progress of the train you’re on! Including links to station departure boards, station information etc.
@driverbod125
Whoosh are working with a number of TOCs and Network Rail so you should see the QR codes in all their managed stations too. Once you have the link you can use it anywhere on the network
@NickRH14
What I really liked is that it obviously has the carriage number in the barcode, works out what train that’s currently forming, and opens the website showing the current station on the journey!
@Sacro
Ok I’d not considered that risk vector, but is it really a thing?
QR codes are everywhere now, particularly encouraged by Covid - restaurant menus and ordering by QR code on the table, QR code on information signs for more information etc, they’re even on screens at stations!
@driverbod125
Not sure about the lift info though, how do you know if the lift you need is the 1 that’s out of service, therefore rendering the info that 6 are available somewhat useless?
@JohnTillUK
This is indeed a problem. On the other hand I can only think of four passenger lifts at Temple Meads (plus three goods lifts), so I’m not sure where they get the 6 from in the first place!
