Second time in a week!
Question is, why use Bristol drivers on these two trains and taxi back from Reading? Surely there must be someone available based nearer? 🤔
@driverbod125
No more local drivers available? Get the train as far as you can with what you've got and hopefully have some kind of alternative when you get there.
@driverbod125
Pass ! Would be quicker to stable down in PAD or North Pole with PAD HSS doing the duties.
Know the outstabling plans have been let’s say operationally challenging

@GWRHelp
True to a certain extent, but it would depend on the link structure at each depot and the route and traction knowledge of each depot and link. So not necessarily as simple as you make out.
@driverbod125
Almost as if they don't have enough staff and should either pay the ones they got so they want to come to work or maybe hire more staff so their is no shortage!
@Banhammer72
Being an RMT (ie signallers and train managers) strike day, with a limited service running, there were copious (ASLEF, not on strike that day) spare drivers everywhere!
But this move (including taxis) was rostered in advance, not sorted out on the day.
@driverbod125
We sign them at Reading as do Swindon. It's most likely because it's a Bristol job all the way through and they don't bother changing it.
@clloyd3003
Completely different to the usual work content of both those turn numbers! One of the headcodes is now usually a Temple Meads west job, the other I can’t find but it doesn’t appear to be a Parkway job!
@cliftonmod66
It was outstabled at Reading overnight. On the RMT strike days, the signalboxes are only staffed for one 12-hour shift (7-7, or 7.30-7.30, I’m not sure). By outstabling two IETs at Reading, services can start from there almost straight away when signallers book on in the morning.
@driverbod125
looking in at the overall operation of the railway seems to be chaotic mainly due to too many companies being involved in BR days local managers had total over view of staff could borrow staff from different depots so long safety requirements were met for all disciplines involved
