We are launching a Draft Countdown Discord!
Please join to talk NFL Draft, College Football, NFL and more!
We would love for anyone to hop in and hang out with us throughout this season:
Ohio State DE Chase Young will be the best player available for the 2020 NFL Draft, but shouldn’t go
#1
if a QB-needy team has the top pick. It’s quarterbacks, not pass rushers, that separate the good and bad teams in the NFL.
The Dolphins should be a much better fit for Lynn Bowden, Jr. than the Raiders. Bowden can now move back to wide receiver where he’ll be a nice complement to DeVante Parker and Preston Williams, plus provide the Miami offense with a much-needed playmaking dimension.
I think we can officially drop the level of competition concerns with St. John’s (MN) OL Ben Bartch. More than held his own at left tackle against top SEC pass rushers like Terrell Lewis of Alabama and Jabari Zuniga of Florida in the first Senior Bowl practice.
@dpbrugler
I once rode an elevator with Bill Tobin at the Senior Bowl. We were making small-talk and he asked me what I did. I hesitated before telling him I analyze the draft. He was very nice. I almost asked him to record a “Who the Hell is Scott Wright” for my voicemail.
U.T.E.P. OG Will Hernandez was already one of my “prospect crushes” and
#14
overall player regardless of position coming into the
@SeniorBowl
week. He was even better than I expected.
St. John's (MN) OT Ben Bartch isn't being talked about enough as one of the top small school prospects for the 2020 NFL Draft. Former TE with an ideal frame, a terrific athlete with nimble feet but also aggressive and a finisher who plays with an edge. Reminds me of Eric Winston.

Even though this will be my first time playing in the acclaimed Scott Fish Bowl I’ve long admired my fellow Minnesotan

Thanks so much for the invite! 🐟
Potential Top 50 pick who has strung together two excellent seasons together. Certain NFL teams have already been showing strong interest in Ridder. The Senior Bowl could send his draft stock way up!
The Miami Dolphins don’t need to hit on all of the first round picks they’re stockpiling, only one. A quarterback. Once that happens everything else will fall into place.
I thought Miami (FL) DE Jaelan Phillips looked like a future first round pick as a true freshman at UCLA. Career was derailed by injuries and a brief retirement but is now re-emerging as a redshirt junior with the Hurricanes. A prospect to keep an eye on.
Based on the film I think St. John's (MN) OT Ben Bartch is a better prospect than Alex Taylor of South Carolina St. Best D3 blocker since Ali Marpet and should receive an invite to an all-star game and the NFL Scouting Combine.
Here's one of my favorite reps (LT78):
Minkah Fitzpatrick was regarded as an extremely high-character guy coming out of Alabama. The fact that the Dolphins completely alienated a player like that so quickly might be the most dire sign yet out of Miami.
A little scuffle at practice this morning between Boston College DE Zach Allen and Kansas St. OL Dalton Risner. No program has produced more Senior Bowl fights over the years than BC! 😄
Cole Kmet of Notre Dame is now the favorite to be the first tight end off the board, but how early? A couple of teams with a clear need at the position to keep an eye on in Round 1 would be the Jaguars and Patriots.
Notre Dame OG Alex Bars (
@AlexBars_
) is flying under the radar but I think he could be an early-Day 3 pick. Breakout senior season was cut short by injury after just four games but has a great frame and pedigree with OG / OT versatility. Also has the
@BigQ56
seal of approval.
TCU OT Lucas Niang (
@Kbniang8
) is being underrated because his senior season was cut short by injury, which also kept him out of the all-star circuit and limited him at the Scouting Combine. Some team is going to get a rock-solid starting right tackle at a discount.
Some questioned my having Rashaad Penny of San Diego St. as the top senior running back in my initial rankings, ahead of Nick Chubb and Sony Michel of Georgia. Those watching the
@SeniorBowl
game see why I'm a such a fan.
With the 2020 Senior Bowl week starting to wind down I think the storyline I will most remember from this year is the small school prospects showing out.
* Lenoir-Rhyne S Kyle Dugger
* Dayton TE Adam Trautman
* Southern Illinois S Jeremy Chinn
* St. John's (MN) OT Ben Bartch
Virginia DT Andrew Brown continues to flash for the second day in a row at the Senior Bowl. Definitely a guy I’ve underrated and plan to adjust accordingly.
The NFL Draft world lost a giant with the passing of Dave-Te’ Thomas after a long battle with cancer. An outstanding evaluator who was incredibly connected and respected around the league, I was honored to call Dave-Te’ a friend for almost three decades.
No QB has ever lost to Vanderbilt and been drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft in the same year (h/t to
@brianlamb_ISN
)
Both Anthony Richardson and Will Levis lost to Vanderbilt this year.
Today's Pro Days include:
-Iowa
-Syracuse
-Virginia Tech
-Bowling Green
-Northern Iowa
-James Madison
-South Alabama
-Toledo
Some Key Players to watch:
-CB Riley Moss
-CB Garrett Williams
-LB Mikel Jones
-QB Todd Centeio
-S Benny Sapp III
-iOL James Jackson
I've been hearing the Giants aren't enthralled with Ohio St. QB Dwayne Haskins and it sure seems like Gettleman is still all-in on Eli Manning. Fans of the G-Men should mentally prepare themselves for Michigan DE Rashan Gary or Mississippi St. DE Montez Sweat at
#6
.
With the spotlight of Draft Day I want to take the opportunity to remember a draftnik pioneer, the late, great Joel Buchsbaum. I often wonder what he would think about how popular the NFL Draft has become. R.I.P. Joel.

Iowa’s Tristan Wirfs has both the highest upside and highest floor of the top offensive tackle prospects in this class. Even in the worst-case scenario he’s still going to play in the league for a decade.
10 1st Round picks in the 2019 NFL Draft for the

***2024 7 ROUND MOCK DRAFT***
With the 2023 NFL Draft over,
@ShanePHallam
brings a 7-Round 2024 NFL Mock Draft!
See who he likes to be a future first round pick!
A factor Giants GM Dave Gettleman, who’s on the hot-seat, might be considering:
Isaiah Simmons - Impact will be largley dependent on coaching and role in which utilized.
Tristan Wirfs- Lock to start somewhere on o-line plus supports investments in Saquon Barkley & Daniel Jones.
I’ve been telling everyone that Notre Dame WR Chase Claypool was going to run a lot better than expected. Hopefully his performance at the Scouting Combine puts all the tight end talk to rest once and for all.
My comparison for USC QB Sam Darnold is Aaron Rodgers. And I was a huge fan of Rodgers coming out of college, ranking him as my
#1
overall player available for the 2005 NFL Draft.
MOCK DRAFT ALERT!

Is Oklahoma WR CeeDee Lamb still in the picture for the Arizona Cardinals at
#8
? Certainly was before the trade for DeAndre Hopkins. Kyler Murray is said to be advocating for a reunion with his former Sooners teammate.
Maryland RB Ty Johnson, a big play machine and underrated Day 3 prospect, ran 4.26 and 4.35 at his Pro Day per
@b3dubose
. Will be selected ahead of some much bigger names at the position.
At least two, and maybe three, prospects will receive my “5 Star / Elite” grade this year. Quenton Nelson and Saquon Barkley are in, Sam Darnold is still under consideration.
My final rankings for the 2018 NFL Draft are now live! 793 prospects ranked by position, with accurate heights, weights, 40's and career stats, as well as a Top 300 overall with a round conversion key.
The closer the draft gets the more confident I am that some offensive lineman are going to unexpectedly sneak into the back end of Round 1. The top candidates are Washington OT Kaleb McGary, Boston College OG Chris Lindstrom and Texas A&M C Erik McCoy.
I still believe in Jameis Winston, who is just 26-years-old, and would love to see him go to the New Orleans Saints for a year or two of football rehab with Sean Payton and Drew Brees. It would be a great situation for both player and team.
The Andrew Luck situation is a cautionary tale for NFL teams about the importance of protecting young quarterbacks. The Colts and their former GM Ryan Grigson failed miserably in that regard and the repercussions were devastating.
***MOCK DRAFT ALERT***
The Combine is over so it is time to see how the results affected the NFL Draft.
@ShanePHallam
brings a FULL 7-Round Mock Draft!
I interviewed Minnesota LB Blake Cashman (
@blockayyy
).
✅ 4-time state champion at Eden Prairie (MN) High School
✅ Walk-on earned a scholarship and became a team captain for the
#Gophers
✅ Crushed the Scouting Combine
Is the Top 100 overall next?
If Kyler Murray is the type of quarterback Kliff Kingsbury wants then Josh Rosen probably isn’t a fit for the Cardinals. It’s like a Lamborghini and a Humvee. Both have their respective strengths, but they’re very, very different.
I opened a pack of
@PaniniAmerica
football cards with
@SMU_Football
WR James Proche (

Notre Dame OG Alex Bars was performing like a Top 100 pick before getting hurt. There's precedent for Bars going late-Day 2 / early-Day 3. The Jets chose Nebraska OG Spencer Long in the 3rd Round of the 2014 NFL Draft even though he only played 6 games as a senior due to injury.
The talent at the top of the 2020 NFL Draft has a clear edge over 2019. In my opinion only Nick Bosa would crack the Top 5-6 if the two classes were combined. Auburn DT Derrick Brown will be a steal outside the Top 5 and is better than Quinnen Williams who went

My first trip to the
@seniorbowl
was 15 years ago. The star in 2005 was Cadillac Williams. Others Notables: Demarcus Ware, Roddy White, Darren Sproles, Logan Mankins, Carlos Rogers, Marcus Spears, Vincent Jackson, Michael Roos, Trent Cole & Lorenzo Alexander. And
@danorlovsky7
!
If I were the Tennessee Titans there’s no way I would break the bank to pay Ryan Tannehill. I feel like they can get a quarterback in the draft (Jordan Love? Jacob Eason? Jake Fromm?) who is far cheaper with way more upside to manage that offense.
The top TE on our site, Wydermyer has two-way ability to both block and catch the ball. He will be an excellent red zone target who can also help lead the way in the run game. High Day 2 draft pick at least!
I ❤️ U all thank you so much for these last 3 years they’ve been amazing and I’m grateful and truly honored to be apart of the Aggie family

signing out🤴🏾
Seeing some of these free agency contracts really hammers home how important it is to draft well. There will be prospects available on Day 3 of the 2019 NFL Draft that will outperform guys getting tens of millions in guarantees on the open market.
Hoping to see
@Mckendree_FB
WR Matt Cole (
@matty_baybee
) pop up as an all-star game invite. 5-10, 200 with 4.45 speed. Good wideout but also a great special teamer, both as a return man and coverage guy.
We’ll never know how early Jaylon Smith and Myles Jack would’ve been selected if not for their respective injuries. Georgia LB Roquan Smith, my
#6
overall prospect, could provide a clue.
Smart move by Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield accepting his Senior Bowl invite. Some team is going to fall in love and he’s going to be selected a lot earlier than most think. Top 5-10?
