On August 7, the American Red Cross implemented updated FDA blood donation guidelines which eliminate questions based on sexual orientation and instead focus on identifying high risk behaviors amongst all-comers. I gave blood today for the first time! @RedCrossPhilly #LGBTQ 🌈

Post-op patient I saw in clinic this week wrote me a very thoughtful card thanking me for “taking extra time” answering her questions before surgery and easing her anxiety. Obviously we don’t do this for gifts, but it’s very nice to be appreciated—particularly for bedside manner.
