My new shop is finally here! With new merch including polymer clay figurines and acrylic standees and more, thank you all for your support I am so happy to own my own store instead of selling on Etsy now! Link in bio💕
Terrestrial isopods 💕 cuteness overload
Compared to terrestrial ones, their aquatic relatives are really bizarre and crazy looking, and I’ll do another piece for them!
I am very excited to reveal my new project: I’ve made my “secret pond” into a multi layer acrylic stand and it looks just like a tiny aquarium! This is a sample but I will make it available soon! Let me know what you think 🥰
Size difference of ants; swipe to see the species!
They’re so diverse in shape and size and it’s like comparing different dinosaurs 🦕 🦖 just in micro scale 🤏
Weta land!
Wetas in New Zealand play the ecological rule of small mammals by dispersing seeds of native plants. To bad they’re severely threatened by invasive mammals now.
Happy Leap Day 2024 and join the arthropod leaping team!
Only one orthopetran member (the grasshopper) is included since they would easily fill up a whole illustration, that huge leaper family deserve another piece of artwork 🦗
Epipomponia nawai is probably the cutest little caterpillar 🐛 well, it’s my opinion, not the cicadas’. It’s a parasite of cicadas, a really unique case in moths!
I’m traveling to Japan next week! So my Etsy store will be on vacation mode for 2 wks, the last batch of orders will be shipped next Tuesday🎉 perfect timing for the holidays!
Besides that, does anyone have recommendations of insect related stores/museums/etc in Tokyo?
Who moved in after acorn weevil left? Acorn ants! 🐜
Those tiny ants settle their whole colony in a single acorn, only ~300 workers in a mature colony. How cute is that!
Another example why flies are ridiculous!
Stalk eyes evolved so many times independently in flies and these are just a few examples. From top to bottom: stalk-eyed fly (Teleopsis), hammerhead fly (Plagiocephalus), and Anaeropsis guttipennis
It’s a fly-eat-fly world! Ochthera, a predatory shore fly genus, is basically a praying mantis in a fly package, definitely one of the coolest flies (and there’re so many more cool flies!)🪰🪰🪰
