One day the *take down the Grant statute because he oppressed Native Americans* folks will discover the *Many native Americans also owned slaves* folks. At some point we’ll see that the history of the world is all of us oppressing one another & maybe then we will discover grace.

The term 'LatinX' strikes me as an attempt to reorient Spanish culture -- which is a culture that relishes the beauty of the masculine and the feminine -- into a hyper-cartesian, mechanical, disembodied paradigm. And as Spanish was my first love, that really saddens me.

I don’t use the n-word out of respect for my elders. But the hip hop community brilliantly reappropriated it by turning it into a euphemism for “man.” You can’t exude the coolness of an art form & then act all surprised when people who don’t look like you want to be part of it.

I agree with all ya'll calling out the woke paradigm for generalizing about minorities but some of ya'll also generalize about the left as if it's a monolith and need to engage in some self-reflection.

Here is Frederick Douglass’s eulogy of Ulysses S. Grant.

Found the full eulogizing of Grant by Frederick Douglass that I’ve seen excerpted. His praise is damning for the desecrators of Grant’s statue. Douglass fought villainy *and* honored heroism. He saw the latter as critical for emancipation. Where lives that sentiment today?

I need to say more about this. This reflects an ignorant understanding of America. The flag literally represents your right to disrespect it. That’s baked into the American ideal. If you punish someone for burning it you’re actually desecrating the meaning of the flag, not them.

If I were President, the punishment for burning the U.S flag would be the renunciation of citizenship. No jail time, no fine— simply one year to liquidate your assets and get the hell out of our country. In exchange, we’d extend citizenship to a hardworking LEGAL immigrant.

Police reform demands that the police treat the people as *people*, deserving of dignity and honor, and also that we treat police in the same way, since, after all, they too are people. It’s a two-way street. And we need each other.

When you stop and think about how Robin DiAngelo has been walking around with racist-ass ideas about black people & just made a fortune telling every white person, "I'm having these thoughts, so obvs you must be having them too!" you have to just say to yourself, Wooooow.

Now the statue of Ulysses S. Grant in San Francisco has been torn down by the mob and defaced. Yes, that Ulysses S. Grant.
