Some folk said that Russia was deliberately using it's stock of obsolete weapons/munitions to save the best till last. How much truth is that in that theory when Russia then commits 300,000 untrained citizens to the fight. Is it that dead Russians are of less value than assets

Not only that, but you need a conscript army to be fully motivated for the cause they are being asked to fight. I think it safe to say that a good proportion of these conscripts are the polar opposite of motivated for a cause that involves illegally invading another country.
