Poilievre is upping expectations for leadership candidates in Canada — I’m not sure there’s another politician out there clearly communicating their message in unedited, 3 to 6 minute videos, without notes. Most politicians can’t walk and talk like that.

In Canada, accusing your opponent of “American-style politics” is probably the laziest, outdated talking point there is. It’s unfortunate the Charest camp can’t muster some creativity.

You can't speak to the general public if you don't know them, or have never met them at all.

If you're going to say any Canadian politician is like Donald Trump you have to explain how. It's not unfair for those who make that claim to be asked to elaborate.
Kathleen Wynne tried this as a Hail Mary against Doug Ford — it didn't work.

Politicians don't "trick" the public with populist rhetoric. Populist politicians are a reflection of where voters are already at.

Charest's comms is bad. You can't put out a graphic saying 'leaders show up' when your opponent has brought millions [more] dollars and 100s of 1000s of new members into the party, w/ the majority of caucus supporting him. These are things Charest hasn't done.

Canada Fin Min Freeland says that, "for too many young Canadians, the promise of Canada, the kind of Canada that older Canadians [experienced], it doesn't feel like it's working."
One of the not so great parts of getting elected has to be — years after your public service — being asked to publicly carry water for something indefensible your team has done. A former minister from a generation past going on the attack is a sign of a party on its last legs.
A good political antennae isn't built within a white-collar environment. You should know people who have never been on a Zoom call.
You don't need to take their opinion as gospel, but talk to people in the street. Mix it up, see if you're missing something.
I've met and am close with tons of great people who took this program but I'd also recommend students interested in politics do the following:

Liberals spent about $1,000 on Facebook ads last week primarily targeting users 55+ in Ontario and Quebec with housing-themed attacks on Poilievre. The small ad budget shows a lack of confidence in the messaging, and the targeting tells me they’re in trouble.
