slightly off topic, but that's why a lot of younger fans can't wrap their minds around older artists' popularity without the numbers that groups do now lol.
IOK share ALICE Sohee (prev. ELRIS) will be getting married this year and is shared to be in a relationship with a businessman who is 15 yrs older
With the news of her upcoming wedding, Sohee will be retiring as an idol as her contract expires next month
This is important if you care about the rights of minors in kpop and the entertainment industry, they want to reduce the cap on working hours a little more and enforce other kinds of protections. So, hopefully it turns into law.
i don't like hearing this woman tell a guy who had a member in his previous group pass away (from reasons unbeknownst to the fans btw) that he can't go to the hospital?..
meanwhile i’m looking at a group like vanner, with every member was working part-time jobs well after debut, managing their own schedules, or being the admin to their own fancafe, etc. I just watched a video where the leader transferred his admin duties to a real staff. bananas.
this is probably year 6 of discussion about hybe's lack of vocal training. its clearly not a priority if their artists are gonna get support in spite of that. however, when they put them on big stages, of course they're leaving artists open to criticism on their exposed faults.
when we have the conversation of groups pulling themselves up from the bottom its usually about groups with companies that invested so much into them in terms of training, production and expensive music videos, despite the “size” of the company.
not to say these popular groups didn’t work hard to get where they are today despite not being from the original “big 3” because yes they did work their behinds off. but just because you’re unsatisfied with the level of support they had doesn’t mean it wasn’t there.
Since there is a little confusion, I’ll explain what I meant was, imagine how disliked you have to be for kpop fans to bring up an old tactic as mass turning off lightsticks for for an artist for reasons other than saving batteries.
Choi Jong-hoon, a gang rapist and former 'FT Island' Korean boyband member who was released from prison in 2021, has resumed his activities, appearing on Japan's largest fan community platform 'Fanicon' - a paid subscription service where fans can interact with their idols.
Rest in peace Jeonghwan, I was happy to have seen you for 7 years in NOM, Top Secret and TST. You always had the sweetest smile and radiated a brillant light. You will be missed dearly.
I didn’t think it needed to be said, but “what ifs” is literally what the law is operating on —the potential “what if they got injured or injured someone?” so they take the person’s license.
i know people will be like “they were gonna shut down anyway” cool. but why when i had a vlive archive/directory on my website to help people find uploads of old videos, i got a cease and desist notice from hybe lol.
idols in other groups don’t train their butts off for years on end, get into investment debt, go on harsh diets, get minimum sleep, deal with shady companies, get insulted by netizens, put out bomb af music and slay the stage for you to say “they didn’t work as hard as bts”

that’s funny since the main reason k-pop started dominating my preferences over j-pop way back whenever was probably a natural progression since k-pop’s accessibility got easier.
when i see johnny or jaehyun with nct i think they're giants, but then i see vixx with them and i'm like oh yea of course... vixx are a group of giants too.
(I’m literally a starlight ☺️)
Starlights respect VIXX so well because they put appropriate boundaries up very early on, and weren’t scared to personally call out those who were acting up.
1. They’re erasing the group’s identity as if its bad or embarrassing which is even rather racist when non-koreans say it.
2. They are literally the definition of Kpop
3. How are you going to claim breaking Kpop records if they aren’t even Kpop?
the vixx vs sm discourse was so wild, like you got ravi, rv and taeyeon fans fighting in the trenches while on the other side you got leo and xiumin are going woo woo sleepover with the bestie.
I think its unfair to do the whole guilty just by association thing. that's basically saying people were complicit in someone's act they probably had no idea about.
most idols have to “break even” by paying of a huge trainee debt that can be as much as half a million, to their companies before receiving payment. for a group from a smaller company to do in 3ish years is pretty good, but should be a wake up call for those who glamorize the job

you can dislike the song or whatever but nobody is giving the representation to the lgbt community in the same way mamamoo members do. this music video is insane for how conservative korea is
