Deputy Thomas Weeks made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting and serving our city.
Charlotte Fire mourns the loss of Officer Joshua Eyer. We are devastated by the loss of life that we witnessed today. Officer Eyer passed away tonight from his injuries after being shot in the line of duty this afternoon assisting other officers apprehend a suspect.
After being laid off following a corporate merger, Capt. Mario Arango wanted to do something different. “I remember a (firefighter) telling me, if this gets in your blood it will be all you’ll ever want to do.” He joined Charlotte Fire in 2009 after graduating recruit class 81.
Charlotte Fire developed a unique way to train our recruits & evolving our future officers. At the recruit's mayday safety survival class, special training scenarios were launched. The recruits were paired with our firefighters taking part in the our officer development class.
Before the heroes show up in a firetruck, there are heroes answering your call. On the other end of 9-1-1 calls are public safety telecommunicators who exhibit amazing dedication. This week we celebrate
