The U.S. crossed 1,000 positives on 3/10.
We crossed 2,000 on 3/13.
Tonight, 3/14, we are on the verge of crossing 3,000.
This is not a horse race, but when you see tweets of people at bars and restaurants, it makes me think the message is not sinking in yet how serious this is.
Stunning stuff here: Congress asked the IRS to report on why it audits the poor more than the affluent. Its response is that it doesn’t have enough money and people to audit the wealthy properly. So it’s not going to.

Worrying trend: ICUs across the country are pretty full. In 10 states, plus DC, more than 70% of beds in ICUs are occupied, per

One reason federal health officials have not acted appears to be President Trump’s reluctance to declare a national emergency. That’s a key step that would clear the way for states to get Medicaid waivers to more nimbly tackle coronavirus.
Trump’s push to use hydroxychloroquine to treat COVID-19 has triggered a run on the drug. Healthy people are stocking up. That has left patients with rheumatoid arthritis and lupus confronting a lack of medication that safeguards them. My latest:
Kinda stunning. A local health department in rural southern Missouri county is halting its COVID-19 response efforts after state Attorney General Eric Schmitt wrote agencies this week demanding they drop mitigation measures.
Add Dulles to the list of airports that are absolutely overwhelmed tonight. New restrictions were added without adequate staff to implement them, causing crushes of people at DFW, O'Hare, Dulles.
The Texas Medical Center, the largest medical complex in the world, is on track to run out of ICU beds tomorrow. They expect to run out of "sustainable surge capacity" in 12 days. This is scary.
It is remarkable. There will likely be a tax bill come hell or high water, but millions of kids may lose their health insurance. This should be on front pages across America.

You may be understandably concerned about recent media reports alleging that CDC is banned from using certain words in budget documents. I want to assure you that CDC remains committed to our public health mission as a science- and evidence-based institution.
Looks like this is at least the third super spreading event involving a summer camp. What's going to happen this fall when school is in session? (Not suggesting that school shouldn't be in session, but asking what's the plan when this happens.)
I've gone back and listened to the president's remarks about coronavirus. He downplayed it time and again, said it was under control, faulted the media, blamed others and then finally took it seriously. Important story.
Trump tried to use the WH briefing room to rewrite the history of his public statements about the coronavirus. In his current telling, he always took it seriously. In reality, he downplayed it publicly for weeks.
